I want to get my DW 44 mag drilled and tapped for a scope. I was not sure if there is anything special about getting it done due to the barrel configuration. Can any gunsmith do it just like any other revolver or is there more to it than that.
If it matters, I have a 44mag blue with 8 in vented barrel. Thanks
First, welcome to the
I would think any compentent gunsmith could handle the job. If you wanted I'm sure you could send just the shroud off to Dan Wesson and have Keith and his team do the job as well. Here is a link to their contact information.

Welcome!
In my opinion, I would avoid drilling the shroud, for the fact that once the holes are placed they can't be reversed too easily-if you decide to take the scope off at some point of time, you'll have holes staring at you. Why not go with the B-Square scope mount? You wouldn't have to drill and tap anything that way...
Thanks!

I 2nd the extra shroud, that's what I did with my Supermag. That's the great thing about the DW's; a relatively quick change from iron sight to scope. If you can't find an old shroud and your gun is the Monson or Palmer series, get a new shroud from CZ and use it for the scope; you might be able to get it pre-drilled and ready to mount.

Very good advice from robhof. You can never take the holes out of an original shroud, and drilling/tapping/mounting on an extra shroud makes life pretty easy.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
