Hey guys, I found an awesome deal today on a 6" VH 715 barrel! It looks awesome on my 714! However, as I'm sure you know, the front sights are different. I saw a front sight conversion in EWK Arms site, but it's no longer in stock. Does anyone know where I can find one? Or do you have any other suggestions? Thanks, CJ

The EWK Conversion sight will work perfectly for you. I use one on a 6 inch 715 Shroud on my 714 and it shoots right to point of aim with it installed.

What I would do is just sign up to be notified when it's back in stock. They seem to magically appear in stock and after a day or so, I will get an email from EWK. We are so lucky to have him as a resource.

At one point in time (several years ago) DW sold Patridge front sights in a variety of heights. Chances are that that is no longer the case, but it might be worth a phone call?
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

my IHMSA s/m came with that installed.
they were a slight bit narrower, and the rear sight slot also, iirc the normal sights were .125" f & r, and the ones on mine were .100" f & r.
as I hunted with my first .445, I had to install an old style Black std blade, to allow it to be holstered without snagging on pull out.. had to switch my rear's out also for use, with the wider front. And I had to really mess with elevation on rear because the front was not as high, and didn't co ordinate with the rear s/m well.
nice part was, I could pull both sights, and return them and right off they were spot on within a half inch @ 100 yds on bags.

CJ, There was one of the conversion sights still on hand, updated the inventory on the website!
Pete_1, That is interesting, like bullwolf said, if you are using a model 15 shroud on the model 14 frame, the conversion sight should work well, not do what you're describing! Was the original shroud on your 14-2 a "humped" one?
The problem with the patridge sights is they are too tall-I think the shortest DW offered was the same as the shortest one I have? (.225")

Yes it does have a "hump", hence problem ? I may put a scope on it anyhow.
hey bro, if I come across another dooo doo shroud, that you can sandblast and powdercoat, and drill n tap for that scope, it's all yours for what I pay, but you have to drive up and spend the day with me... deal? i figured that will work, an i'm looking... I might just make one fer ya, when I do my slab jobs, you can file the corners and such, and round it out, I'll do the bore, the ends, and the pin hole..mmm kay?

That's a plan, Rich. Let me see if I get mount first. I'm not paying a stupid $ for it. You know the bid game. But can always get another later. Got SM on the 3 brain cells left u know.
hey, $40 max on anything you find, don't go over that... seriously.
I'll hook you up, hang tight.

pete_1, Sounds like its time to break the calipers out! It would interesting to know what the height is from the the top of the shroud barrel tube hole, to the top of the sight on the 14 shroud. Then the same on the 15 shroud with the 14 conversion sight installed. It doesn't make much sense as what I see in the picture looks like it should work fine. 14 with the "humped shroud" is what the conversion sight and the 15 shroud is supposed to cover. Yes, scope is cool, but having option of iron sights is good too!

A little busy today, but I'll do some measuring and let you know soon. Eyeball guess is hump is about 3/16" higher than top of
top strap on frame. w/15 sight I aim about to top of red in sight w/ steel of sight up 1/8" ? For now I put 14 6" back on and it's new .445 Super mag time
Is Richmond near Columbus ? I'm between I71 & I77 near I76.
Thanks Dave

The Image below is my 714 Dan, with 3 different V Barrel Assemblies.
Top B/A is a 6 inch 715 shroud, with a (too tall) factory 715 front sight blade.
Middle B/A is a 4 inch 715 shroud with EWK model 14 conversion front sight blade.
Bottom B/A is a 2 inch factory 714 shroud, with an original front sight blade.
I have two EWK Model 14 conversion front sight blades. My 6 inch 715 B/A is currently wearing the other one. I've tried the EWK model 14 conversion sights, with the 4 and 6 inch B/A's on my 714. They work well for me with my set up. Both of my barrels shoot to point of aim with 158 grain factory ammo, using the model 14 conversion sight blades.
I also have an 8 inch V (ventilated rib) barrel shroud assembly, with out a front sight that's scoped
My 8 inch B/A has no front sight insert at all (cut out) for a sight blade. The 8 inch B/A came to me from an auction site, already drilled and tapped for a scope mount or I'd measure it for Eric.
So unfortunately I don't have any useful feedback with a 14 conversion sight and an 8 inch B/A.

Ok, Eric
got some pics. and measurements
14= inside top of ba to top of sight= .520
inside ba to top of shroud= .370"
15= inside ba to top of shroud= .345 .025 difference
inside ba to top of 14 sight= .485 difference .035
to top of 15 sight .635
add in 8" barrel and .035 is amplified. I hope info. helps. BTW, dead on w/original 6"
