Morning guys,  got to make this quick, have to get ready to get to work. I have 2 model 15-2's. The serial numbers on the two are 118xxx and 139xxx. I have not seen any numbers this low as of yet when other proud owners post about their 15-2s. Would anyone want to take a stab at guessing what year(s) they were produced? I didn't buy new or I wouldn't bother you guys with it. BTW, almost forgot, they both are Monson guns Laugh. Oh, two more bits of info, one was equipped with the zebra checkered target and the other the solid wood brown checkered target. They both had the one piece solid rear sight when I got them. I have since replaced one of them with the removable rear blade rear target. OK, one more, one came with a HV 6 and the other with a HV 8.

This makes them a Model 14-2, not 15-2.

Now I'm only assuming here (which as you know, is all we can currently do, thanks to the BATFConfused ), but my hunch is that the 14-2 & 15-2 serial number range was integrated as they were manufactured. If so, then I would guess that your guns were made in approximately 1977~1978.

Now, if I'm wrong & they were actually separate s/n's between the two models, then yours may be somewhere near 1980. I'm only saying this because they seemed to have made fewer 14-2's than the 15-2's.

You mention that they both have a HV (Heavy Vent...full underlug) shroud. This is a little puzzling to me, because I can't recall offhand seeing any 14-2's with the heavy shroud. They are normally the standard or standard vent shroud. Do the finishes seem to match between the shroud & frames? 14's would have a matte finish & 15's would be a gloss finish.

That's my .02 FWIW.Wink

Oh, and...Post Pics heheLaugh

I think this is being misinterpreted... I think he has 15-2's with the one piece adj sight (no removeable blade)...

Like I said... and reiterated above....Post Pics...

You may be right, it wouldn't be the first time I've led myself to the wrong conclusion.Screwy

Shoot is correct. Pardon if I wasn't clear. Here is a pic of the two, one with the solid and the other with the replacable rear blade. They both were brought home with the solid. Hope this pic is good enough.[Image Can Not Be Found]

Ok, now I'm with ya.Embarassed  When the 15-2's were first introduced in late '75, they had pinned front sight blades. I don't recall at the moment the approximate date when the replaceable sights came along, but I'm thinkin' it was early~mid '77 sometime. Maybe some of these guys can dial that guess in a little closer.

So I'm thinking that both your guns were made in the same year, real close to either side of that sight change line in production.

Does the bottom gun have a Millet rear sight?

Ok, 77 appox. it is until more serial # info becomes unearthed. I thought it would be 72 or so, but that looks like an impossibilty. The sight on the bottom was bought by me from DW sometime in the later eighties or 1990, can't remember. I bought the .125 and .100 notched blades with it. I also got the .100 (narrow) front patridge. I think those are the dimensions, haven't checked and it was quite a while ago. For some reason .080 sticks in my head. The narrow notch and narrow patridge work really quite well with the 8" barrel for a tighter sight pattern. Thanks for the info!DWF Sign
