For all you 445 guys out there… What length barrels do you have on your 445? Anybody ever shot theirs with a short barrel?
I have both the 10" VH as well as a 6V — the 6V has never been shot.
I've been holding onto the 6V because it would make a nice compact big bore if I ever delve back into bear country.
So what's the recoil like–anybody else have a 6" or less barrel? I know we have a few AGS guys out there.

Greetings
I have a 414 SM which is not to awful different from a 445...
But I see little reason to use less than an 8" barrel on a SM as those shorter tubes sort of negate the SM length cartrige ability to make good use of slower powders for meaningful velocity gain. If I want a shorter barreled magnum I get out the DW 41 and put a 4" barrel on it.
Now if I was saddled with only one magnum revolver and oit was my 414 I would not hesitate to get a 4" but thankfully I am not hampered by that situation.

I have not fired shorter than 8" on my 445 either, but I have fired my 414 with both the 4" and 6" VH barrels. The 6" is not to terrible bad for a 10 round string, but the 4" is definitelly an awakener when it goes off. It would not be much fun to shoot at the range for an extended time, but would be OK for a pack gun with a short barrell and big punch.

Shootist,
I fired the 2" BA on the 445 SM and surprisingly it didn't kick all that bad. Accuracy was as you would expect. In talking to Mark, his theory is the short barrel doesn't allow for much pressure build up, which would prevent significant muzzle flip. Only fired it 12 times, but wasn't painful or unpleasant to shoot.
Did sell it to a fellow board member, it was too short to ride securely in the Badlands pack I have, had to order the 4" from the factory.
