I have a Dan Wesson model 15 I think that has a side plate problem. Where the cylinder stop pin goes it has a hair line fracture that caused the pin to fall out. I obviously need a new pin but I need a new plate as well. I was wondering where to send my gun to. The best I can tell is that side plate has to be factory installed, this information is off of a 2009 catalog I saw on this page. The barrel shroud has came loose as well. I had a gunsmith tighten it but it came loose again. I was given this firearm by a family member and am trying to get it like new again. I love it and there is nothing wrong with it except whats mentioned above. Thanks for any and all help!

You can contraceptives CZ and get a price for a new side plate. I would also check eBay and gunbroker as well. As far as the barrel nut get whole of EWKarms and get one of his barrel wrenches. It was the best investment I made for my Dan. EWK is a member her and his web page is linked on the right hand side. Hope this helps.

The cylinder stop fracturing from the side plate (it's integral, not a separate piece) was a known problem with early 15-2's. DW/CZ has a replacement/service part piece to replace it if missing. My 15-2 had this problem and the new cylinder stop was "locktited" into place in the installed sideplate, which may be a short term solution while you source a sideplate. Mine was shot a lot, and continues to be shot in my son's hands with the quick fix cylinder stop.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I'm curious, if its not a fixed barrel gun, why are you taking it to a gunsmith to tighten the barrel? You can do that yourself with a barrel wrench. If you don't have one, see the side bar to the right EWKarms, he makes by far the best barrel tools for our guns. If you don't have one, you need one.
