at 50 yards I have to have my rear sight real close to full down. (Model 744, HV, 8" barrel). So I have lots of longer range adjustment available.

For a starting point so I am not skipping bullets over the berm, how many inches of drop going from 50 to 100 yds?

Just a sitting here wondering question. In reality without specifying the bullet weight and powder, even a rule of thumb wag is probably an unrealistic expectation.

Probably about 2" drop, but our resident expert on long range shooting (IHMSA80x80) could probably be more help.smile You could shoot him an invite to this thread via PM.wink

This will help, if you are shooting factory ammunition.  Then, for a ballpark start plug the weight and velocity into a simple ballistic calculator, like this.  As a side note, if you want a very good calculator, go here.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....
