Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum and have a problem with a 715 ss .357.  The front sight is lose and the allen head set screw is stripped in the hex head.  how do I get this out and where do i get a replacement?

Thanks in advance....Big

Welcome to the Forum--Welcome--Please take a minute to stop in the new members section and telll us a little about yourself.  Depending upon how bad the screw is stripped out, there are a few options.  If it still looks like a hex shape, you can sprinkle a little powder into the hole and try with the wrench again--amazing how much grip the powder gives.  If it is really bad you may have to try tapping in a very small screwdriver or ez out.  Worse case scenario--you drill it.

Make sure you are using a good wrench--if neccessary, grind the end back to where it has not been used yet.

Sounds like someone may have cross threaded it going in. I was gonna suggest the very same ideas SHOOT suggested, good luck & let us know how you make out.

I've got a favorite technique for rounded allen screws. I use the grindings inside the bench grinder guards. Paint the wrench with clear fingernail polish and roll the wrench in the grindings and let dry. It bites like the Remgrip screw drivers. Providing the screw isn't that bad, this should work. Another method is Kroil and an easy-out.
