I know the frame and shroud are the same on the 357 and the 22 so what do I need to swap besides the cylinder and the barrel to do such a conversion?

Sorry, won't work, firing pin strikes in a different location for .22 and .357

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Plus threads are different!    Dan did this so as to keep folks from blowing stuff up!  Heck just pick up a 22 and let the fun begin!   Did you grab that 22 cylinder on ebay?

no I passed on the 22 cylinder . Thought I better find out if it would work first. I know I've seen 22's on Gunbroker that had 357 shrouds on them.

The shrouds are interchangeable.  The barrel tubes are not.

Barrel tubes are much easier to get and less money than shrouds.  If you have a VH8 for your 15-2 but only have a 4" barrel for your model 22 you can buy an 8" 22 barrel tube and put the 357 VH8 shroud on the 22 barrel tube.  I don't see VH8 22 barrel assemblies come up for sale often so some guys do the shroud swap and don't worry about the caliber stamp being wrong.

I shot a model 22 in 6" exactly this way for several years, .22 6" barrel, .357 6" shroud. Easily done.
