I haven't seen anybody selling the new CZ 715, or much advertising... mid July and no release yet.

I hope we are not just dreaming. I haven't seen the first thing written or advertised sense it was first announced. I think it will be too rich for my blood, I will have to save my mad money for a while.

My current status of I DON'T KNOW is exceeded only by my feeling of I DON'T CARE.

CZ can keep their $1500 15-2. This gun is not true to the original Dan Wesson revolver, challenging the big boys with innovation and quality at a great price point.

Sorry, Grumpytime is (probably) over.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Was told by DW the gun is same as original, IIRC forged steel frame, and MSRP is about same as S&W 357 686 PC gun. I use PC Smith's because a DW 715 will receive about same attention to build and detail as the Peformance Center gun, but market margin may be less then S&W resulting in less dealer discounting.

wow I hope it's a better job than what I have seen come from the S&W

PC dept.  in the last few years, seen brand new guns from poorly fitted sights

to cylinders spinning freely during lock up ! There is no way stuff like that

should make it out on the regular production line much less the PC dept.

Never seen that on any PC guns I looked at the last 4 or 5 years, but it happens I guess. The only reason IMHO to buy a S&W is for warranty, and the times I have seen friends and dealers use the service none had complaints there. Want to see complaints about warranty service, try Taurus.

I have sworn off of S&W after having owned their 1911 and my sister's Walther PPKS.  Both had nasty burrs at the crown that I had to machine off.  The one on the Walther could have been used as an adze and every edge on the gun was like a razor blade.  I gave myself a nasty cut just racking the slide.

A friend had a PC 357 mag (don't recall the model) in which the barrel kept coming loose.  After several trips back to S&W they finally determined that the frame was cracked.  Add that to the 5 times his M&P40 went back because the striker kept breaking…  He's had several other S&W go back for manufacturing defects as well.

What they do and charge for a 'Performance Center' gun to me is simply finishing the manufacturing process that all their guns should go through.

I'd like to give them my business especially because they're local, but unless they greatly improve their QC I won't bother.

My theory on a 'lifetime warranty' is that it's in place for one of two reasons… either the product is so good that it will seldom be needed OR it's so poor that it's the only way to gain and keep customers.  When I by a product I like to have it available for my use and not in the shop.

Have I mentioned I'm not currently keen on S&W?  laugh

Hahahahah, not too sure about that shipmate. rofl They really haven't impressed me either in the last 10 or 15 years. I have 2 very nice 22A's and 2 very nice 2206's and a 629-8 in 3" Talo special that are excellent guns and needed no tweaking other then replacing the lock on the 629 with the "plug" from a guy on the S&W forum.

I really love my 6 DW revolvers and my 2 Colt DE's, sure hope the new RZ-10 Bobtail is as good.

Well better get car washed while it's only 91, weatherman says 104 for high with humidity only 80% to 85% range. wow

I was completely on board to slap down some money for one of these new ones a while back. But with the combination of CZ/DW dragging their feet & over pricing, this gun has left me cold.frown

The bottom line is…they never did want to reintroduce the revolver to their line. And they seem to be making sure that it never stands a chance to get off the ground, as proven by their lackadaisical approach to advertising & creating interest in general, for a new model venture.confused They made their prototype for the SHOT show, slapped a double the value price tag on it, then stood back & gave us an "I told you so" when the inevitable waning interest materialized.

The good; that one prototype will be worth some bucks.

The bad; none of us will be able to buy one.

That's just my bleak forecast. In a way, I hope I'm wrong in the end. I hope they build a truck load of them…with a $600 price tag.laugh

Cute pic Blacktop, makes me want to blow it up and use it for target practice! laugh

Back on topic, I feel we're gonna have mostly speculation, and here is mine for what it is worth-

As I have found out, selling the parts for Dan Wessons, this market is super, super limited. First off, radical Dan Wesson guys are into anything Dan Wesson. Most of them are here on the DWF, though there are some that are not. I think most of us as you can see from this thread aren't going to be buying a new 715 and I think that is going to hold true for most fans and non-fans especially those that aren't buying based on emotion.

It could be too there just hasn't been that much interest in it, so they are pushing it ahead to work on the 1911's people just can't get enough of.

Steve hit the nail on the head, if it doesn't embody the original values of Dan Wesson, collectors would be the main target-and I don't think that is going to fly.

Well I guess some here want 25 year ago pricing of $600 but they are just people living in dream world that's not allowing for inflation. If you want a new $600 gun go buy a Taurus and pop it open and see what $400 to $600 will buy you. Junk.

Only reason you can buy a S&W 686 for $800 at dealer is the 40% mark up of a gun that's being built on same machines for 20 plus years and none are true hand fitted like the DW was and will be again. The kind of quality and attention to detail of those 70's and 80's guns makes it a $1300 or more gun in todays money. If I didn't have a like new 715 with less then 100 rounds fired, I would have already pre-ordered a new 715 w/o a doubt.

I currently have a blue & SS versions of 22, 357, and 44 magnum, all like new guns with low round counts that puts S&W guns from same era to shame for both quality and accuracy.

Ok, I'm off my soapbox. mini-gun

I don't know about 25 years ago, but 33 years ago (1978) the 15-2 6VH listed at $272, not $600.

S&W 686 6" lists at $829, DW 715 6VH lists at $1169 (41% premium for an unknown over a known and well established brand/model)

CZ is following the DW 1911 trend of charging a premium for very good quality 1911's. Unfortunately their new revolver has no track record and is a completely unknown quantity in the marketplace, except for our traditional, original productions guns that sell for, well, less than half of their ridiculous MSRP.

Put this new one out there priced head to head with a 686, throw in the interchangeable barrel as something you can't get on the Smith, and watch them fly off the shelf.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

To bad they wouldn't let us (DWF) get a volume discount!!!  We do more for the sales of CZ stuff barrels and shrouds than any other place.  Well my thoughts anyway!

With the right price I may even need 2!

Steve I thought I made it clear I was talking PC to DW, when talking comparison because otherwise you are comparing apples to oranges. Also I think you are forgetting if they use original spec's then follow up on the QC you have a gun of same or possibly better quality then the 70's gun.

Remember that inflation of the dollar alone would mean that a $250 gun in '72 would be about $1250 in a new company today making the same gun. S&W is not new and being a giant can spread the cost across a far larger sales net work and I'm sure you can figure that out on your own.

IMHO it will all depend on final QC as to quality, and I am sure the current management knows that quality end product was what made the guns great. So you of little faith sit back and don't be so negative.

The more I talk about the new 715, the more I think I want one even though I have a like new old 715 with original box and papers dating to '86 and a 15 dating to '78 and don't need the gun.

Sure am looking forward to my new 1911 RZ 10mm arriving to it's new home. Love the 1911 in 10mm & 38 super, wish I could get a 15 in 10mm then I would be in hog heaven. range-time

The thought that just hit me was what effect this new 715 will have on used market, will it drive used higher or lower.....my guess is higher.
