Mine says 22 Auto or Automatic Pistol on the side, can't remember which. I have both 4" & 6" barrels/slides for the pistol, but only shoot the 6" target barrel.

Yep, I agree on all that–  Yours should be stamped Colt 22.  Mine came with the bare slide, and I knew it was kinda rare…

I'm on the hunt for the 4" barrel…

Contact me at oldnavy6393@gmail.com if you want to buy my 4" barrel and slide as you might talk me out of it.

Well-Yes it is your thread, but it didn't start out as either a Colt .22 thread or a WTB/WTS. This one wandered pretty far even for DWF.

But, since we're way off topic- I had one of these Colt .22's, I think it was marked "Target". It was a decent shooter, but not up to either a Mark II or a Buckmark. "Target" may have been a little optimistic.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

If nothing else, I would hope the lonely new 715 I held at the NRA convention makes it to the public market.  However, chances are it will end up in one of the Execs hands...

My least accurate 22 pistols are my '59 4" Std and its twin a MkII model, and neither of the MkIII's (8.5" Compatition & 22/45 that I spent $350 tweaking) were all out shot by my Smith 22A & the Colt.

The Colt has a 4x scope and with my shakey hands will do 1" at 50 yards and a friend can do 1/2" with it at same 50 yards.

Most accurate revolver I've ever owned (Colt, Taurus, Ruger, S&W, to nane some better known brands) and only one has ever been close to the DW's and that was the two Colt's I've had over the years.

Most accurate 22's are my CZ's & Mossberg 142A (18" heavy barrel) and my guess if they were vised it would be the Mossey on top. Least accurate 3 Ruger's, real disappointmen as relibility was perfect.

Now for bad news forgot to check my email after Keith told me my RZ10 was handed over to shipping until late Friday afternoon and Jenny wanted to know which FFL and CC to use. I told her about 3 months ago, but I guess she lost the note about which to use. So the gun won't be shipped till Monday in the middle of Christmas shipping rush. What upsets me is I started to call her to make sure she hadn't lost the info and desided it would make me look silly. mad

And so it ends ... cry

I just scoured the internet for a new 2011 DW715 to no avail...  The dream is over for this year.

Someday we'll all look back and remember the year  DW715 was supposed to come alive again.  Who knows--there is always 2012...

Well I wouldn't worry, world ends in 2012 I've heard.

If it does end, at least I got my new RZ10 home and got 50 rounds thru it now. No runs, drips or error's. It's far more capable then I am, but it sure is fun to shoot.

Let's have a DWF Lottery. You pay a buck and pick a date, buy as many as dates as you want. Closest to the date wins.

I'm first in on NEVER! $1!

It was a silly idea to bring back the 715 instead of SuperMags anyway!

Not me, I haven't been there for at least 6 months.

I agree with Jody, almost anything but a 715 would have been better. personally, I still think a .327 would have been cool for starters.

I'll call tomorrow (or Tuesday if closed ) and see what's what, who knows

worse case scenario maybe we can get some unused rear sight assemblies

out of the whole deal.

IIRC the idea at DW was late spring of 2012 before they were to be ready for shipping and CZ who runs the website just put the gun up on the website and a date without checking with Kieth. I think I remember him saying that he had to go to KC to get the catalog and website straightened out.

Seems to me CZ didn't take into account the expansion and training of new peoople they hired.

That said I'm no longer interested in one, I wan't my 10mm CBOB for CCW

A 327 would have been cool or a 17HMR!  Blacktop let us know what you find out.

Had a S&W 647 (17 HMR) 8" barrel, what a PIA to clean for something that could not do a 8" group at 50 yards with 4x Leupold scope. Other then to expensive ammo and PIA to clean there's nothing wrong with one.

I think the 357 was the proper choice, 327 is more in the line for light weight CCW type, not a gun the size of a S&W 29 N frame. That said a 44 magnum would have been my choice, thought about 10mm automatic caliber. But got to thinking it would probably need to be the large frame due diameter of cartridge and then I would have done 10mm magnum. But it would be same problem as 327, 41 magnum...to small a market for reintroducing a revolver line. IMHO

Waldo thanks for the info on the 17... I have often thought about one of the S&W's but will have to rethink that one.  Plus the prices on those have went up above what I would probably give.

The reason I think a 357 Mag is a poor choice for the reintroduction is because they are readily available and at very reasonable prices.  I think reintroducing a SuperMag frame in something like a 454 Casull, 460 or 500 might have been a good choice.  This would appeal to folks looking for a big bore and to someone like me that would want to add a DW to my collection in a caliber I don't have.

But as I stated before I really don't think CZ cares about revolvers.  I tried to remain positive for a long time but find it more difficult to do so.  I certainly hope they bring revolvers back to market but not sure it will happen.  Based on the articles I read it was suppose to have by late summer 2011.

I dunno, I can see where Waldo is coming from-while us Dan Wesson nuts would love to see the SuperMags available again to get those impossible to find calibers, the market is very small. I bet they were thinking of trying to introduce something that would have a wide appeal. Good thinking when looking at the general public as most "normal" gun guys would freeze up when they see SM (Wouldn't be able to get past not being able to get ammo for it at Walmart!) But then again, most "normal" gun guys would look past the 715 and pick up the Tarus instead!

You're right Jody, with the used ones available doesn't make much sense to go with basically a reproduction of the older ones.

Just a bad situation all around. frown

I really think Eric has this right. CZ is basically a mass producer, dealing in massive quantities of the same, very standard item. For them, the big $$$ come from selling a lot of guns, and that means .357 Mag, probably followed by.22 lr. It's kind of a leap to match that up with a small manufacturing/assembly facility like DW, and I'd guess that is where the problem is coming from. I (pretty harshly) joke about these never coming to market, but I think they eventually will. I don't think they will be a success at the price point advertised.

Since I don't know much about CZ, so maybe some of you can answer this question: Is CZ a "mass appeal" manufacturer that goes for high sales of fairly generic, functional guns at industry standard prices (are they Chevrolet)? Are they a "niche" manufacturer that produces specialty guns with unique quality and characteristics at a more premium cost (are they Cadillac)? They seem to be going for Cadillac prices, will it be a Cadillac gun?

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

CZ is I would say medium end mass production hand gun, their rifles run more to the high end for mass production rifles.

I think CZ bought DW for sole reason to make 1911 handguns that at time was coming back into vogue, and that they have been very good at once the revolver line closed and they got their production tune up. I would say their production guns are now better then the Bob Serva guns were for quality, finish and fit.

My guess is CZ was looking at a cheap entry into American and not being limited by entry tariffs and quota's in the Americas thank's to NAFTA and that's where majority of their 1911's have gone, Latin America is a big market for them and the same will happen most likely with revolvers if not already happening and may be why we have not seen them here yet. Guns, like cars, are heavily taxed on inport to Latin American countries and US made guns are not. So CZ I think was looking at as I said an easy entry to Central and South American markets just like VW did by opening plants again in the America's.
