Waitimg for a link but there are several reasons those of us that haunt Gunbroker will not bid on a gun or not bid enough. 1: The starting price is either more than the gun is worth or close enough to the maximun value that buyers do not percieve a "deal". 2: The reserve is set so high that the listing expires even though many people bid on it. After a couple of relistings, most buyers ignore the gun because the sellers are unrealistic. Those sellers must occassionly find ignorant buyers or they would quit doing it. 3: The pictures are so poor that the gun cannot be evaluated. Sometimes this is intentional but occassionally a leap of faith is rewarded with a sweet gun. 4: Sometimes there are apparent mistakes in the description that turns buyers off such as calling a 15-2 a 44 mag. like one gun for sale now. Sometes though misrepresentations can suppress the price ans result in good deals. Awaiting a picture or link but hopefully this explains it.

That Lil Dan was just relisted for the first time. The market spoke and assigned a value of $800 but the reserve was higher. This listing was discussed on the forum and the high bid is close to the maximum value discussed by some very knowledgable members. A buyer also pays shipping which can vary and often FFL fees . Also some sellers charge 2-4% for credit cards. This also affects the final price. A future bidder may decide to bid more or the listing will be there till the dollar is devalued so much it seems cheap. Protect yourself by emptying your bank accounts and buy Dans.

Could not agree more with your "worthless dollar" analogy. It's just a matter of time now....and there isn't much left. Dans, precious metals, etc. I emailed the seller and he would not put a number on the piece. Just wish it had the original box and papers. Maybe that does not make a lot of difference in the "Dan" world?

I emailed the seller several times during the first offering, this is the third time it's been on Gunbroker. First time ending with over a $900 bid still didn't meet reserve. No Box, paper work, nor wrench tool. Right now at 800 it's higher than any Li Dan that I have seen. The last three that I remember selling went for under 750. Here's the links for the times this one been offered. In the end it's worth what somebody will pay for it, just too high for me.
Side note, the first time he posted the in the last picture, a 15-2 with barrel assemblies. Emailed him asking him what that was about. He replied the possibilities. Email mailed him back informing him those barrels wouldn't fit a Li Dan. Correct me if I'm wrong they have a different barrel size and pitch from the regular 357 barrels.

If you aspire to collect unusual and uncommon DW's, by all means, Shoot the Moon on this one.
IMHO- Too much money for something that for all practical purposes, any of the 15 Ruger LCR's in the used case at Cabela's can do for about $300.
I know this is DW "Heresy". If you want a Lil Dan, get it and be very happy owning a rare gun, and Thank You for keeping a small piece of DW history alive.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Smaller, lighter, not as user friendly as the DW Small Frame guns, parts and support will be a PITA!
But it is very "less common" and would be a bookmark in a serious DW collection.
Personally, I'd buy an LCR in .357 with a laser red dot, and invest the extra $400 in, uh, another gun.

I agree (Lord help me) with my brother on this one. If you want it because of what it is, bid with your heart. If you want it for an "investment" bid with your head. In the end, it is worth what it is worth to you... (this sage advice from a guy who just bought another DW 1911 he didn't "need")...
To the paranoid people who check behind shower curtains for murderers:
if you find one...what's your plan?

Love the comments....and yup, I can remember gas much cheaper than $.89! I am with Jody on this one. The seller's comments to me were "I have enough watchers, it will meet the reserve." And he may be right, but as declared by several other members, too many other viable options out there for that many dollars. Thanks everyone.

The lil dan is also just a 5 shot. There a neat little gun and an interesting part of dw history. I remember when these could be had for under $400 but I also remember getting gas for $0.89.
Got you beat! I pumped countless thousands of gallons into gas tanks at UNDER $.20 per gallon, AND checked oil, AND cleaned windshields.
Used to be a full service gas station on all 4 corners of every major intersection, and Gas Wars were a way of life! Undercut the other guy by a penny and line up the cars.

Lil Dan's have been bouncing around the 900 mark for a few years off and on--we all remember the under $400 Lil Dan's--I think those days are far behind us...SHOOT
Shoot has this right also. Dans are still a relative bargain in the revolver world IMHO. As for the few I have bought so far, the quality is superb! Maybe I should rethink my budget?!!

If I want to figure value I convert to pre oil imbargo prices. Gas@ 16 times cheaper . Same for sirloin steak. Candy bars a nickle. A model 12 at $120 in 1970 would be about $1800 today. Sounds like python prices. All the Dans are bargains for what they are selling for. Even the little dan. Although SP 101's work just as well for almost half the price and they shoot 357 too. Maybe we should buy more Rugers.
