Getting a blued Dan Wesson 4" this afternoon in a trade. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Current owner is throwing in a box of Gold Dot ammunition. I'll post pictures after getting it and going over it. Doesn't come with any of the tools/gauges so I'll have to invest in those eventually. I'm stoked!

I'm sort of a "renegade" here, I only have 4VH on my DW small frame revolvers, I have long since traded off, sold, or given away all the rest of the B/A's. 4" Vent Heavy just feels exactly right on these guns (for me).
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

ePay prices are ridiculous for OEM barrel tools, so I recommend you just get an EWK version .. it's a better tool anyhow and comes with both .22 & .357 pilots. Any feeler gauge set with a .006" works just fine.

I did exactly this when I purchased my first DW a few months ago. The EWK tool works great as do the Craftsman feeler gauges i already had

Have the revolver now. Lots of bluing wear from a cheap Uncle Mike's nylon holster that is a bit tight for the gun. I will eventually have it Cerra coated a satin black or may go with a gray to mimic a stainless gun. Bore and chambers are in great condition. Gotta research the serial number to see when it was made (10891X).

Yes, 1977 for mine. I've looked the revolver over carefully and there's no model number stamped any where? It has the adjustable rear sight but, the adjustments are small Allen head screws, not slotted. The barrel shroud is the older "pork chop" style.
Shot it yesterday with 38 Spl hand loads (only brass I have at the moment). Best group at 25 yards was with a cast Hunter 125 gr TC FN over 700-X powder (893 fps), grouping into 1.5". 158 grain Hornady swaged SWC-HP averaged 2.600" but 760 fps with Clays Universal. Last but not least is an unknown brand 160 grain SWC over 231 powder 703 fps, 2.7"" group. Haven't shot it with the magnum 158 grain Gold Dots yet.
