Ever look at 5 Star?
Nothing cheesy about these, but very pricey
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I just ordered one of these:

I ordered the one that's supposed to work with K-Frame S&W
Would like to get one of these, but seems there's a never ending back order.

The best I have ever seen, sometimes they have sales where you can get a couple loaders with a bed or bench block as a combo deal. The machining is flawless and it is a very simple, extremely effective design.
Excellent product all around.

Not to belabor a point, but I spoke to the owner of 5 Star years ago when I purchased and was so impressed with his products. He is a master machinists and a revolver enthusiast, he could not find a loader he liked so he designed his own; his speed loaders are the pinochle (sp?) of industrial design (in my opinion) very simple and elegant in design, all that is needed, and bullet proof in manufacturer.

I am not really a speedloader user, I do have some HKS's, and a couple of Safariland Comp III's.
The Comp III is a pretty decent item, easy to use and retains cartridges with much less "rattle and wobble" than the HKS.

The %stars look great, but, I have hesitated because the sides look a little too polishes and may slip out of fingers. Am I wrong? Been using HK for over three decades...no problamos
Kind of a very fine coin edge finish; if your hands were very bloody there may be issues. I am a firm advocate of using what works well, I will have to try the HK.

* for applications of that nature, where you are concerned with slippage, I recommend this stuff for sun glasses called "cat crap", very tacky stuff, put it on loaders, magazines, clips, BDC knobs whatever comes off with soap.

^ I agree. I also like how easily the Comp III's release the rounds simply by pushing on the cylinder and not having to rotate the handle (like the 5 star).

Just got my new Speed-Beez tonight ...............FANTASTIC
Best speed loaders I've ever owned
I've got the new Dan Wesson 715 and they work PERFECTLY
I ordered the ones designed for the K Frame 38 Special 6 shot
If you try these you'll throw your HKS speedloaders in the trash

I was at the range today and they had an HK in their "pro shop" for cheap so I bought that just to compare. It works a whole lot better. I about through the Safariland down range today trying to get it to hold the cartridges. I'll probably still get a couple of the others for comparison.

I've watched some youtube vids about using safaria comp II and comp III ...........Its much easier loading the bullets in the Speed-Beez loaders. You simply insert them one at a time, or use the tray and load all 6 at once. That's it, you don't have to turn it upside down or twist anything to lock the bullets in place.

UPdate, went to the indoor range and shot 100 rounds of Underwood 125g 1700 fps hollow points. I had my new Speed Beez speed loader along with a "loading block" they sell and two (2) HKS traditional "twist" loaders. Both styles suffered from the same problem. The hogue grip is pretty big and make for a tight fit loading the rounds. Both about the same, with that said I still prefer the Speed Beez just because I can load and release the rounds using ONE hand, while keeping my strong hand on the grip and index finger in a safe position. I tried and tried but could not get the HKS loaders to unload the rounds using only my left hand.

FWIW I always reload using two hands... strong hand manipulates the loader, weak hand manipulates the ejector and cylinder.
Watch a few Jerry Miculek segments on Youtube to see how THE BEST does it... then just shake your head a walk away amazed.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

My reply had some errors, I use both hands reloading but prefer to keep my right hand on the grip at all times (except when opening the cylinder) Once the cylinder is open I return my right hand to the grip with my trigger finger in a safe position. With the Speed Beez I can now insert the bullets move my left hand away and simply use my thumb on my right hand to push the button ....then the loader falls away.
I've watched Jerrys youtube vids many times, what works for Jerry, may not work for anyone else on earth ...lol.
The guy is amazing
I really like my glocks, but I LOVE my Dan Wesson 715 revolver <<<<
One of the advantages of speed loaders is to not move your grip on you strong hand...it takes time to reestablish you gun in hand for the next shot. Also, one of the great things about DWs is you can open, pop up and close the cylinder all with your left hand.
If you're going to drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
