This gun was stolen while in-transit to me.
OK, I give up! It won't let me upload a jpg image — says it is not an image file!
The serial Number is: 445S - IHMSA - 012.
If you see this gun, please contact me 847.537.2694 and/or ATF in New York City 718.650.4070 and/or the Des Plaines, IL. police dept. 847.391.5400.
TIA,
Mike

Mike,
Sorry to hear about this. I was beginning to wonder whether my last purchase disappeared in transit since it took 8 days to get here from 2 states away.
If you want to email me the pic or a link to the pic, I will be more than happy to post it for you. I will send you a PM with my email info.
Again, sorry to hear this disappointing news. Wishing you the best of luck resolving this.

Thanks to Jody for posting the pics. What I received is exactly what you see in the second pic except for the gun. Correct foam box with correct serial number, owner's manual, feeler guage, and DW tool.
BTW does anyone know how many were made with IHMSA as part of the serial number? I saw a 445B with #222. I'd be interested to know.
I bought this from an auction on GA. The seller seemed cool and was selling through his business which is a “Sports Shop”. The next day I received notification of shipment from UPS that it was on its way. I thought it a little strange that the weight specified was only 3 lbs. since the gun weighs 4 lbs. by itself. Two days later it arrived at my FFL dealer and everything was in the package except the gun.
The shop owner said he packed the gun himself. The package shows no signs of tampering and the UPS inspecter agrees that it does not look like it has been re-sealed. There is only 1 layer of tape. The seller did refund my purchase price via a credit to my credit card. However, I would much rather have the gun. I hope that if it shows up I will be contacted. We'll see.
Something smells a little fishy to me. If the package only weighed in at 3lbs when they shipped it one has to think the gun wasn't in the package. Normally the package should be around 7lbs in my experience.
Did the shroud have Dan Wesson's signature stamped in it on the end? It sort of looks like it based on the second photo.

Zoom,
Glad you got your money back, but, as noted by the other guys, something is definately wrong at the seller's shop…
However, check this link: /?page_id=3/off-topic/range-report-saxet-gunshow-austin-tx-2212009
I ran into Serial # 445B IHMSA 016 (10″ 3 slot) at a gun show ~a week ago.
Send a PM if you're interested in contact info.

Yes, I was suspicious as soon as I saw the weight. However, it definitely weighed less than 3 lbs. so there was no reason for UPS to question it.
To answer a couple of questions:
1. Yes, it has the Norwich laser engraved signature.
2. I offered to purchase on 15 Feb 09. It was shipped on 18 Feb. and I received the empty box on 20 Feb.
Perhaps the owner put it in the box and handed it to an employee to ship and the employee decided to keep it for himself? Who knows?
Another thing that probably should have made me suspicious was that there were no pics posted with the GA listing. However, when I asked for pics he sent 13, numbered 007-019. And the odd thing was that the pics were taken on 24 April 08. That's 10 months before the auction listing. Preculiar that he didn't post a couple of pics with the listing. Peculiar that the photos were taken 10 months before the listing.
Oh well, perhaps it will show up.
I appreciate everyone's concern.

Actually, I have already acquired another 445S. While the missing one was "unfired", this one was actually filthy with a couple of dings in the stainless. Both of those issues have been cured.
It has Monson 8" VH barrel and shroud (unfortunately not slotted) and a Palmer V8 compensated and slotted barrel/shroud. It also has the original box (somewhat the worse for wear) and the extra barrel assembly is also in it's original box. The wrapping paper for the V8 barrel is dated 1992. I'm guessing that's Palmer made.
It also came with 900 rounds of brass and a few loaded cartridges plus an original DW shoulder holster.
Now that it's clean and I have repaired the dings, it looks great. Almost no flame-cutting of the top-strap. Can't wait to get to the range. I'm guessing that it's going to be a puppy to shoot compared to my FA .500WE. I hope so anyway. I had to buy shooting gloves to protect the knuckle on my second finger where the FA slams the trigger guard against it. But it's still a rush to shoot.

Yeah, I read that was the reason why Ruger squared off the back of theirs on the SBH guns. Too many people had hurt their birdie fingers. LOL!

I had requested the photos on the stolen gun as well some weeks before and got the same photo series. It was an odd set of circumstances I'll agree. I know this is not DW, but.... I have a FA 500WE that has not been fired yet. How would you compare it to a 475 Linebaugh? The Linebaugh I have is a BFR 7-1/2" model.

Here's the text from an email I received today from the seller regarding the stolen gun:
I know that gun. I bought it last year from Doug at campsite sporting goods in NY, and infact I know a guy who payed a large deposit on that gun, but they sold it to me for more money,. it smelled like a shady deal from the start. They advertized on GA with no picture. I declined to accept the gun though my FFL and it was returned to campsite. Then I got harrassing phone calls from a guy named Jon telling me I was basically a piece of $hit for not acceptig the gun. He sounded like a friggin gangster. I'm not even sure the gun was in the package when I bough it, because I refused to accept it. So, the police need to contact The Camp-site sports shop and chase the gun from there. have them talk to Doug, or Jon who I was told is the owner.

When I found out they already sold the gun to another guy for about $1200, I called them and left voice mails but they would not answer the phone because of called ID no doubt., and I sent emails telling them the deal was off. I told them not to ship the gun, but they ignored me and sent it anyway. The entire deal smelled wrong. I had a suspician that the gun was either stolen or acuired in a shady deal in the first place. The guys at camesite are very suspicious IMO. btw, what did you pay ?
