Solciting ideas on how to remove stuck grips.  I've got a 715 here with a Pach. Gripper that won't budge.  I'd like to save the grip but if there's no tricks to removal, they're going under the knife shortly.

Good idea!  I'll go hit it with 120 psi and see what happens.

(EDIT) No such luck.

You could try the air nozzle blowing down from the top. I haven't had to get that extreme myself, but it might work. Also, you could squirt some penetrating oil in from the top too, then try to arm wrestle it off as the oil helps loosen things up.

Hate to see Grippers get chopped. Try some penetrating oil into the grip screw holes and down both sides from the top, and lots of patience and wiggling.

Note to all who read this-Never install rubber grips on a DW without putting a film of lubricant on the tang and the inside of the grip.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I personally use vaseline under all my rubber grips... ( no comments from the peanut gallery Laugh)

If you haven't removed the grip yet after lubricating it, try warming it with a hair dryer (medium heat) to heat up the grip and make it pliable enough for you to wrestle it off.  (It's amazing what a liitle heat will do.)

Still wrestling with it.  I'll try soaking it overnight in some oil and then some heat.  I've tried oil and air from top down, bottom up, twisting, pulling - these things ain't budging so far.  Mad Thanks for all the tips so far!

rofl -- I've been there buddy... It is amazing how tight they can get after sitting for 20+ years.  Everytime I get one on GB, I wonder what kind of wrestling match I'm in for....never had to cut one yet !!!

I thought I was gonna have to cut this one off the first time I used it. It's the tightest fitting Pachmayr I've got.

I quickly learned to squirt some oil on there before I install. One time, I forgot to put the grip screw in before I hit the range…it didn't budge.lol2 I've used it a few more times since then & haven't used the grip screw those times, either…it still doesn't budge & I have to give it couple good yanks to get it off. That's even with using oil first.Laugh

That solution has to go in the list of:

"Hold my beer and watch this!"
