For you Supermag shooters: do you fire the regular mag and special loads, in the 44 and 357. I see the instruction manual says DW doesn't recommend it. Is there and issue called flame cutting with the lighter loads. I love the Supermags and would try to buy one if I could safely shoot the lighter (and cheaper) loads. Any experiences you could share would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

IMO the only reason to have a Supermag is to shoot Supermags..If you wish to shoot 357s and 44s, it would be less expensive to just buy a 15-2 and/or a 44. Additionally, the Supermags are really a reloader's cartridge-so if you don't already reload, then factor those prices and time in as well.
Finally- this IS America and so you are free to do what you wish. You can shoot the magnum cartridges in the Supermag frames; just clean the cylinder well due to the shorter cartridge lengths.

I understand the issues of freedom and choice. I was really wondering if shooting the lighter loads presents any safety issues and if it might damage the gun. I heard talk of flame cutting, and I don't know exactly want that is, but I believe I heard it in connection with shooting the lighter loads in supermag guns. I imagine there was some reason DW specifically recommended not shooting them in the Supermags. Were they concerned with flame cutting or something else because it really limits the versatility (a key word for DW) of the guns?

I will try. The flame cutting thing was a result of light bullets at super velocity. It was also mostly self limiting. Shooting the shorter cartridges will smutt up your cylinders causing you to do a lot of cleaning but no safety issues I know of. The long bullet jump will affect accuracy some but probably not enough to matter in most uses. Versatility is great however the size and weight of a SM may make toting it around all day impractical if all you intend to shoot is wimpy loads. Of course only you know your needs and wants.
I hope this was some help.

I have tried the shorter rounds and reduce load Supermag cartridges. Both have yielded less than the best in accuracy out of my guns with my skill set. The Supermag revolvers really gain their most accuracy when loaded towards the top of their loading data. You may find varying results, but that is what I have found. This was especially true in the .414 and .445 calibers.
