we have been through this over time. I was just wondering if something new has poped up over the last year. Maybe we could come up with a list of top five based on a forum concensus of what would be the five rarest Dan Wesson factory issued revolvers. List by caliber, model, and finish as issued in the box or case. pick three of your flavor.
I'll start my pick
1. 7414 VS8"
2. 722 VH10" single action sil
3. 45lc VH8" non fluited cyl.blueenjoy!

I'm going to add two top 3 list, my holy grail and what I considered to be the hardest to find:
My DW Wish List
1) Model 745 (Barrel type doesn't matter)
2) Model 722
3) Model 7360
What I think are the rarest:
1) Model 7414
2) Action Cup
3) Model 7360
The rarest list is really subjective. It would be so nice to have production data!

Ain't that the truth! Without a production list, we're left to evaluating rarity from what we see pop up for sale on the internet. Those fans of more common manufacturers really have it made, in that regard.
So on that note, Wayne hit the main " holy grail" gun right on the head, the 7460 Magnum...since there was only one known to have been made. Not to be confuzed with the 460 Rowland.
Ok, so out of the ones that they did make more than one of (), my holy grail gun (like many of us) would be a 7414 SuperMag. Gotta get one some day.
Ok, so Pops opened Pandora's box here...this post is gonna be LONG! As with any self respecting collector, I want to end up with one of everything !! These are on my slowly shrinking list of DW's to obtain...
32 Magnum preferrable a PP, like this one that went for $1500 last February. (notice the Tourister style case)
Anything in a nickel PP...Dusty really lucked out big time, on that one he grabbed.
Model 22 & 22M in PP's.
Model 32-20
Model 8 & 9 (708 & 709 would be fine) Here's a M8 that sold last March for $250
Model 41 / 741
Model 45 / 745
Model 460 Rowland
Model 445 / 7445...I came so close to grabbing this one with an IHMSA s/n, but it would have meant missing out on the Porkchop family.
A gold series edition...
And the next time one of these 1st run limited edition 44's comes along, I'm going after it!
And an AGS. Preferrably at least a 6" barrel, like this one.

Plus, there's a few more Fixed Barrel guns I want/need. I'd like to get a compensated model…this is the 3rd one I've seen now, including one from a fellow member. Bummer that this 715 has been drilled for a scope.
Plus I want to land some 44 / 744 Fixed barrel guns still.
I also have maybe SIX more holes to fill in the quest for Porkchops. I need a 15-1
Any of the factory nickel guns…
Model 14-1…
Ok, I'll stop there. But you get the picture…it's clearly a classic case of run amok!!
it is true the other manufactures realy do have better records to classify their production numbers, but with the info the forum puts on record the day will come when we can at least point out the lower production models and years of likely production. IF ONLY WE COULD GET INTO SEALED PRODUCTION RECORDS AT THE ATF TO SCAN FOR DATES AND SN.
CF you really need some medication! Ha Ha!
Keep the wish lists comingand thanks for the input.

Interesting, without records to see the actual numbers, but I will post my picks, from most rare to less rare. Obviously, we all know that only ONE 7460 Supermag was made, so I won't count that one.
1. Dan Wesson .32 SuperMag...I have factory brass for this one. Did a prototype ever get made? Or was the brass run in anticipation of it?
2. 7360...I know where one is, and it's not for sale. Were there any blue ones made? What barrel/shroud versions were released?
3. 7414SM...I already have one of the Palmer 25 that escaped before the factory closed. I'm almost positive NONE were made in a blued version, but, were any made in a 10" VS barrel?
4. 15-2 VH10 Limited Edition...My recent DW acquisition you've all seen, the 15-2 IHMSA model with Zebrawood grips. There were 100 of them made. Researching that, I found IHMSA also had an identical Limited Edition of 100 made in a 10" VH barrel.
5. 22-VH10 Silhouette...I have the stainless version of this gun already, but there are other versions that were offered at the same time. I have yet to see the blue version, and both blue and stainless V10" versions were also offered. Anyone seen one? I thought they were all made in Monson, now I've seen one from the Palmer plant. How many were made there?
That's my list, but you guys sure came up with a lot of others I need.

Interesting post. What I would like to obtain next.
A 7360 would be close on the rare list.
45 Colt
32 H&R Mag
* Pistol pacs, hunter pacs, SS or blued, any combination
Most rare,
The 7460 is in existence, but the only one
The 32 Super Mag if a prototype were out there
The 7-30 Waters revolver that was taken apart at the factory after testing
Charger Fan also listed alot of guns that if our paths crossed would have to come home. The Alaskan guide gun has always appealed to me even though I have a 7445. I also remember DW and S&W put together a gun in 45, don't remember the exact specs but it had a french gray coating. Maybe someone can elaborate better.

we can do it with thes posts the wish list top four would be
1.7360
2. 7141
3. 32HR
4. 45 long colt
those are the calibers without concidering the barrel options, place of manufactureor in box or pack.
Could be hard to list top four as to rearest because of lack of records. But from posts looks like this
1.7460cal and finish maybe one out there
2. the other caliber could be 32HR and 32/20 not sure how caliber was marked on guns or finish options available.
3. any caliber in factory nickel finish. I boxed and listed?
4. could be a toss up with these .45 long colt, 22IHMSA 10"single action,45acp pin gun,PPC,Action cup,AGS,gold series and who knows what else out side of special limited production runs. Oh only if we had records!
