Hello to all
Thinking of selling my Dan Wesson 45 Colt 2 barrel set looking for advice
It’s a 45LC 8 inch with quick detach scope mount (uses barrel wrench)
And a 6 inch heavy barrel the gun is in very good condition had maybe 200 rds. Through it.
I purchased it new about 1986 has not been used in 20 years. I see very few for sale and have no real idea of what to ask for it. Any help would be appreciated
thanks
I too am craving your gun. Your best bet though is to put it on Gunbroker. You can do it yourself or try to find an FFL to do it. They should charge between 10 and 20% plus selling expense. Because of its value I would hope to pay closer to 10%. If you have the original Styrofoam and cardboard it came in you will get somewhere between 2000 and 4000. You should have up to 40 high quality photos from every angle including the recoil shield, top straps, muzzle, etc. Your photos you posted are more than adequate. I wish I could do that. Good luck.

I agree with Ole Dog Gun Broker will bring you the most for it. Here is one that sold on the Forum not long ago:

I ordered a few parts from Spartan, a mail order store, when they were selling off their DW parts. I kept a couple of pages from the DW part of the catalog so I could reference the parts they sent me.
They don't list a .45, but the .44 and .41 are within a few cents of each other.
DWG44V8 was $344.68 (The whole gun.)
DWBA44VH6 was $135.55 (The barrel assembly.)
DWCG2 was $24.37 (The combat grip.)

Thanks a lot for all you input I can hardly believe the value of this gun I really was thinking it was like $8-900.00
I should keep it may be doing better than my 401k
I think I will list it on gun brokers and then post here in case you guys won’t to bid or just watch it.
Thanks Scot

Yes, please keep us posted...nosy neighbor here!
I think you'll be pleased when you find the right buyer. On Alaska List there's a DW44V6 with an asking price of $950. "Could have been handled by Dan Wesson himself." Not nearly in as good of shape as yours, nor as rare.
On a sad note: my 44 is not nearly as nice as it was before yesterday. I pulled it out of the safe and it slipped out of the storage envelope (ZCorr) and hit the concrete floor scuffing the combat grip and front of the barrel. I sat down and shed a tear or two.
Good luck on your sale!
Edit to add: Is the gun important to you? Side story; I bought a Triumph motorcycle with summer ranch work wages when I was in highschool l.o.n.g ago. I kept it until we moved to Alaska, just couldn't justify the problems it'd taken to move it again. I'd taken it apart and put it together several times, but the last time it never went back together. I found a very nice guy that wanted to rebuild it BAD and sold it to him for a bit less than I thought it was worth. The new owner is in full rebuild mode for several years. He sends me pics on a regular schedule to let me see how it's going. The Wife said the other day how nice it was we found such a wonderful home for it.
Hint, some of the posters above "might" have such a wonderful home for you gun.

I'm going to lock this down now.... I don't want it to turn into a For Sale ad; we have a section and qualifying requirements for that. If you list it on Gb, please feel free to place the information in the Auction section. Regards, Ron
