I have an 8" .357 super mag barrel (no shroud or frame to go with the barrel...YET) and the threads on the barrel nut end are messed up and I am hoping to work on this to get a large frame barrel nut to tread properly. Does anyone know the tread pitch and diameter of the barrel nut end of the .357 super mag barrel?
Thanks

Thanks Ron,
I found the post you put up when I did a google search and thought I had the info I needed, but then I read closer and see that those measurements are of the threading that goes into the frame and it makes sense that DW would have different thread pitches and diameters for that end of the barrel to prevent putting the wrong barrel onto the wrong frame.
My understanding, as others have stated, is that there are only two sizes of barrel nut Large frame and small frame. This also makes sense that way you only need two types of barrel nut.
So I am not sure if the measurements in the #6 post apply to what I am trying to fix. I do appreciate the help though. I am in no hurry as I have nothing to attach this barrel to, but I would like to get it so that I can screw on a barrel nut.
I do have my eye on one .357 Super Mag, we will see how it goes

Somewhere on here is a thread I posted a few years ago with all the thread pitches for all the supermags. I was responding to a question from a man I sold a barrel and shroud. Turned out he had a gun that somebody rethreaded for a different caliber. I'll see if I can find it.

Missed that Ron, that's what happens when you read the forum when you are tired.
Anyway, both the 44 mag and the 357 SM barrels I just measured were .652" dia. 40 TPI (threads per inch)

Thanks for the help. I purchased a barrel a few weeks back knowing that the barrel nut threads were just a little boogered up. Should be a fun little project fixing it now that I have the proper measurements. I also sent an e-mail asking the same questions to Dan Wesson Co. in Norwich.

Also, email Eric at EWK Arms, he makes barrels and nuts and will know the proper specs. He may even be able to set you up with a source for the proper die to rethread that barrel.
