WOO-HOO—>>
That's a real bevy of beauties you've got there, way to go!
The snubby is a Model 14-2. I see that you've also have a Model 15-1 Porkchop in the mix too, wearing a later style (15-2) colored front sight. I've got one of those on my "need" list too.
That April '79 dated barrel wrapper for your SuperMag has me a bit perplexed. The .357 SM's didn't come onto the scene until mid-'83, and normally we can get a pretty good idea of a gun's manufacture date by the dates on the barrel wrappers. Your wrapper must have been stuck in a crevice for a couple years before someone found it & wrapped up your spare barrel! 😀 Funky.
Anyway, it's a great looking SM!

Funny you should mention that; I was at a gun show here last winter and a dealer had a Stainless 4" barrel, maybe a model 15, for $375.00. I picked it up and handled it, and of course looked at the barrel end and nut and could not believe my eyes. Someone, (the dealer maybe) had taken a longer barrel and just cut it off with a hack saw and put it back in there. AND did a lousey job of it too, they cut at a slight angle and had not even bothered to take a file and dress the end. I pointed this out to the dealer and offered him $200.00 (figuring it would cost me to get another barrel) and he just put it back on the table saying, it was fine the way it was. Now I don't know much about 'amoring' but if someone cuts a bit off the barrel, doesn't that disrupt the 'twist?' Anyhow, that is my deficiency! No stainless.
We have a gun show coming up here then end of November and I have a little Browning Buckmark that I bought new, with the bull barrel. It is a fairly nice semi-auto, it is just a 'devil' to pull the slide back for the first round. So I am going to cart it to the show and see if I can make any deals. Now that I have two really GREAT target .22s (the DW and S&W), I would just as soon get rid of the browning.

Very nice DW's!!!

The twist will not be effected as the twist in a 2″ barrel will stabalize a bullet the same as an 8″. What will effect accuracy is the uneven crown you mentioned. As the bullet leaves the end of the barrel the gasses should escape evenly around the base of the bullet, but if the crown is uneven the gases will first escape on the short side and push the bullet. This can cause very poor accuracy and if it's really bad like you described might even make the bullet tumble. If you look at the end of a barrel with a good crown there will be powder stains in a perfect "star" pattern from the lands and groves. The best place to see this is on a trager barrel with an inverted crown.
