Went to a LGS yesterday to make sure I had all the paperwork right for my recent purchase.  Ken, an employee, was patient and helpful explaining the process to me.  When we finished he says,

"You know we have its twin for sale right now."

"Huh?"

"Let me get it out of the back."

He brings out a Model 15-8 VH.  Sssswwwweeeetttt!  Looks like it has had maybe 50 rounds through it.  The gun was so clean I felt bad holding and touching it.  Virtually no buildup in the cylinder, bluing looked perfect to me except for a couple of very small scratches on the sharp right front edge of the vent rib.  I didn't see any dings or scrapes on the grip.  The only real flaw I saw was part of white outline on the rear site had faded some.  It was the first time I held a DW revolver.  (I'm gonna like my 22 when it gets here.Laugh)

"We got it as a trade.  It was part of an estate.  Looks like it laid in a closet all these years."

So what is a reasonable price for a Model 15 with an 8" barrel in near perfect condition? Comes with a barrel tool and a somewhat crumpled manual.

I really should resist.  I have several handguns, a 9mm, a 3" 357, a P22 and an old 10/22 and old single shot 12 gauge.

If somebody wants it, let me know and I'll post a link to it.

Thanks.

Save yourself the aggravation and put ti on lay-away.... you'lll want it soon enough !!!  I bought a nice one on Gunbroker a while back for $425 delivered and think I got a great deal.

I think you would REALLY like having that gun. I looked at 15VH8 for $350 this weekend... but sadly it was in bad shape.. at least four spots were badly pitted and had accumulation of rust like a big scab. I turned it down versus trying to get it at a lower price. Just not worth my time.

If you can get it for less than $400 out the door, then you may have an investment as well as great gun to keep. The problem with buying through gunbroker is all the fees the hike up the price. I have nearly 10% in just getting my $700 to me ( $70) .

Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box

in that order.

I think $400 or under would be an excellent deal, for what you're describing. Anything over that is all based upon how much value YOU see in it.Wink

Don't resist theDWAS because I've found that resistance is futile.lol2

Resistance is certainly less fun!  The more you buy the less you need!

on that thought laughing, i was asked how many Dan's does a guy need?  I told them one more!

See what he wanting for it and let us know someone on here may need or have to one more!  400 or less out the door wouldn't  be bad.    Hate to say it, the Dan's of 300 range maybe long gone, at least those in good shape.

I myself think you should Buy Now, as haveing the bigger brother to the 22 will only be better.  also shrouds will interchange!

Thanks for the advice.  They are keeping it in back for right now.  Their cases are full.  I shouldn't but if it is still there on Friday I'll probably risk the wife's wrath and buy it.  It is a gorgeous gun.  If felt great to hold.  I'll probably be assimilated by Friday.

A 15-VH8 is a very well balanced piece of art.  You need it in your collection of Dans as an anchor point for your developing DWAS.  Just my 2 cents Big Grin

And, it would be easier to resist maybe... gravity!

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I wound up not getting it.  Dag nab it!  Somebody was willing to pay more for it than I could afford.  It went for $460.  I hope somebody here on the forum got it.

I'd have paid $550 if I had that much saved.  Oh well, I'll just keep adding to the acquisition fund.  Another one will come up some time.

It is a pretty thing though.  Practically new.

My resistance to buying DWs was pretty low until I ran out of gun money.  Five in one month wiped me out.  In those famous words of somebody, "I shall return."  I really wanted that 714 on GB.  Drool
