Just recently added another revolver to my collection. My very first revolver was a Colt Trooper MK lll, and twenty years after selling it (long story) I have finally replaced it. One of the most rugged and dependable .357's ever made; it was coincidentally the brainchild of the designer of the DW, Karl Lewis. While I'm a die hard fan of the Dan Wesson revolvers, I have to admit there is something about a Colt. So incredibly smooth in operation with superb accuracy, and a pure joy to shoot. However, in the final analysis the nod to pinpoint accuracy must go to the DW.
Pictured below are in order from bottom to top: Colt Trooper MK lll made in 1973, Dan Wesson Model 15-1 made in 1974, and Dan Wesson Model 15-2 made in 1975. The 15-1 is currently wearing a 6" barrel from a 15-2 which accounts for its unusual appearance.
Many of Lewis' changes to the traditional Colt designs eventually found their way into the Dan Wesson revolvers. Examining the internals one can see the resemblance. Colts are not so easy to open up, or I would post a photo.
