I think the look of an un-fluted cylinder on a revolver is awesome. That being said, I don't have any un-fluted cylinders for any of my revolvers. Are un-fluted cylinders a custom job thing from the DW factory? How would I ever get a blued un-fluted cylinder for a 15-2? or a 44 Mag or a .357 Super Mag?? Thanks for any intel on this subject.

They have been made. It may take some time. How old are you? Haha. First thing to do is call Shawn at DW. I suspect IF The have one it is a factory install but they will ship to an FFL or gunsmith. If that is a dead end, try looking on eBay for the REST OF YOUR LIFE, or hope to find one on Gunbroker with a frame attached. Lastly, you could use a flute remover. They are sold by companies that make carpet stretchers. Good luck.

I think DW will make you one, but they may want the gun to do the install. I have a few guns with the unfluted cylinders and they do have a cool look to them. I think they really come into their own on the large guns where the extra 'meat' in the cylinder is useful with high power loads.
The king of the unfluted cylinder on this forum is Supermagfan, he has quite a few of those babies.

Flute remover-that is funny. I am guessing I am as likely to find a flute removing tool as I am to find a blued un-fluted cylinder. Are the stainless un-fluted just as un-common?

There aren't a lot of either in the wild but DW does still make them. I think they were probably a special order even back in the day, which would account for the relative rarity of them in circulation.

Although they are not DW "standard" I think that unfluted cylinders are Drop Dead Gorgeous. They look perfect on a revolver, especially in stainless.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I just got a quote from Norwich on one for 22 mag. including arm, extractor assembly at approx. $300.00 plus shipping in blue. They also do stainless. You call them for an RMA and then send it to them.

Go info. Are they requesting you send the frame so they can install? I think I would start with my 44 Mag in Blue.

I spoke with Bob ....at Norwich ext 24. Yes it is a factory install only so the frame and cylinder have to go in.
I did not ask about other calibers, but I would assume all are do-able.
