I have 2 revolvers that I am looking at to purchase and I would like your help in determining age and values. One is a.44 mag, s.s model with a 10 inch barrel.ser number starts with SB and is stamped Dan Wesson arms, monsoon, mass. The other is a .357 mag with 10 inch barrel, blue steel with wood grips. Both are in excellent condition. What might they be worth?

Hi Bob:
Welcome to the DWF. Both of those guns would be worth substantial sums due to the 10 inch barrel assemblies which are fairly rare.
How much are they asking for them? How about posting some pics so we can get a look at the condition and make a better guess as to whether they are worth the asking price. In the end their value rests with the purchaser. If you are willing to pay the asking price, then that's what they are worth.

Welcome Bob,
It is hard to put a value on a gun sight unseen. A range is easier. I have seen a 744 go for as little as $600 and as high as 900. I think with the 10" barrel, the high end is more likely. The .357 value can vary much more. The 10 barrel assembly can go for over $600 for a VH on ebay. On the other hand I recently paid $599 for a 15-2 with a 10" VH and a 6" V With a BIN on Gunbroker. It was very dirty with bad photos and a missing cylinder stop and a stuck and buggered barrel nut. Fixed up and cleaned it is a sweet gun. High price or low, you will get immense satisfaction from owning two of the finest revolvers ever made.

Bob, Prices will vary depending on the part of the country you are in, and condition is most important. It's really difficult to give a useful value without more info. It would help to know what type of barrel shrouds they have and whether tools to change barrels are included, etc.
In spite of the above, I will give you my opinion which is probably worth what you are paying for it. Assuming excellent condition and operation, I would say the 44 would bring 700 to 1000 and the 357 would bring around 700 plus or minus. Start offering lower and go up as needed to your limit.
Hope that helps, and welcome to the forum.

You are getting good advice here, the bottom line on these guns for you, only you can decided. If the 10" B/A's are important to you, you will not easily find them, this could be a big score.
OR, the 10" B/A's might be great trade/resale items for you (that's what they would be for me), so the value in these guns depends on what you can flip them for
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
