I guess one of the easiest things for me to do is to take credit when I do good at a Service Pistol Match, limited to law enforcement personnel, and blame something other than myself when I do bad. But I'm here to tell you the Dan Wesson Revolver is, hands down, the most accurate sixgun I own. Whether I'm using a Model 11, my favorite, or a Model 14-2 the winning results vary very little. My very modest shooting skills are enhanced considerably anytime I use one of these two Dan Wessons, whereas, using another service revolver can sometimes make for an average day at the range. The close grouping capability of my DW's is phenomenol when shot from a pistol perch and not my shaky hands. If I half-way do my part my DW is going to let me have a good score and in these highly competitive, bragging-rights matches this is important. I have shared with my fellow DW friends here the kind of polymer shooting hardware I'm up against. There are several really good shooters amongst the cop Glock crowd and if one or two of these hard-chargers show up I'm in trouble, neck-deep!
On May 5th of this month the monthly police combat match was held. In recent years my Dan Wesson Model 11 or Model 14-2 have been the "two" sixguns I have been shooting in these matches and this time I took my 14-2. I have shot the highest score ever for me with this particular Dan Wesson Model and I wanted to repeat or surpass that score (452). I like to win and thats "why" I take the Dan Wesson to the Match. I stand a better chance of placing or winning with the Dan Wesson and that is the reason it has taken center-stage for me! A longtime shooter with only a minimum of shooting skills can sometimes have a great afternoon, provided he has the "right" sixgun with the right ammo and a steady hand. This happens more often with my Dan Wessons and it did this day. When the smoke cleared the old guy shooting the Dan Wesson Model 14-2 took 1st Place in A-Class with a "450" in a group of 24-shooters. I wish I could truthfully tell my friends here that was normal for me to skin these Glock toters, but that would be a "big" whopper of a lie. Truth is, my Model 14-2 is so good that is allows me,a 61-year old cop with modest shooting skills, to place in topgun category. Surely, Mr. Dan was looking down and smiling on that Sunday afternoon as one of "his" sixguns had just laid waste to the latest in semi-auto polymer shooting hardware by a substantial margin. I would not want any of the forum members here to think for a second I'm tooting my horn. I'm tooting the horn for the Dan Wesson design that got me here!
