Hi, I was in a local gun shop, and noticed a 357 stainless 2.5 inch barrel assembly in the far corner of the case. I was looking for 357 blued barrels, but checked out the stainless, looked good asked if any more available. Yes some home in safe, long story asked to see them, and save them for me, took a week, bought what he had. I got a 357 stainless 2.5", 22v blued 2.5", 22v 4", 22v 8", and the pac he stored the barrel in his safe in the cardboard box. The 357 barrel has a ding, and handling wear, the 22 barrels, and the pac looks as if he sold the pistol with the 6" and the other barrels were never fired. Here are some pictures.

Now I either have to buy a 22 with a 6" barrel, or sell the 22 barrels to fund 357 barrels for the pistol I have. What would a fair price be for the 22 barrels? I searched on Gunbroker, and could not find any completed 22 barrel sales. Are the 22 barrel assemblies harder to find than the 357 ones? I may use the 22 shrouds, and pick up some barrels in 357 as they will work that way. I wasn't looking for another 22, and consider myself an accumulater, not a collector, let me know your opinions.

IraIII,
Those BAs look very nice and the case looks almost new! Great find! You can go to the link in the QA section on the side bar under "where can I order parts" to get the current pricing for DW pistol parts which are available at CZ-USA. That'll give you an idea what to ask for them.
Wish I had a .22, I'd consider some. If you're interested in selling the case shoot me a PM.

Welcome!
I suspect your right and somehow the gun got separated from its pack. As far as I can tell the .22's are much less plentiful than the .357, and they do seem to command a premium over the .357 on GB when ever they come up. The question is would there be a market for the BA's without a gun. The case does have value... but only to Shoot and Jagg ( joke). I have not used my hobby as an investent .. that is to buy and sell with profit being the only consideration. So my mind is really set that way on these guns. If you could acquire everything cheap enough and have the luxury of time to re-coup the initial investment plus the listing fees, then I suspect you could make a few bucks. Separating the barrels from thier shrouds would probably mean you could not sell the barrels as, there just isn't a ready supply of shrouds to then re-mate them with. Given that, I would tend to give some-else a chance to pick them up as BA's versus using them on the .357.
I say all this with the hope that very soon there will be a third party supplier of .357 barrels and shrouds...even custom ones, and at very fair prices. ( which is not to say that CZ hasn't been good to us old DW revolver owners, I think they have). The BA's on GB seem to have pricing that fluctuates pretty wildly. On the low end $150 on the High $300. I definately the high end is pretty silly as it basically the same a new from CZ. The rarity of the 22. BA's would tend to move the price up, but the lack of demand ( or knowledge of their existance) would mean a slow long time to sell them at that higher price. Reducing the price, won't help those that want to find you. Anyway those are my thoughts...

I did not mean for this thread to turn into a for sale thread. I do not know whether I will sell/trade them, or purchase a 22 revolver to mate the barrels with. I was am looking to try to get a value/ rarity for the 22 barrel assemblies. Is the value of the 22 barrels roughly equal to a 357 barrel assembly? I could not find any 22 sales on line to compare with.

DW .22's are much less common than .357's, and are harder to find, but that can also mean fewer buyers for the .22's. I'd think the .22's might bring a few more $$ in the long run.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Something else you might want to consider here is that those barrels you have are all Monson made. That makes them worth more to someone who has a Monson made gun.
So...
.22 Barrel Assemblies are rare -- that's some money.
Monson made .22 Barrel Assemblies are even rarer -- that may be more money.
