New forum member and soon to be new DW 15-2 owner. I have a chance to purchase a 357 Monson built 357 pistol pack. It has vented barrels/shrouds (2.45,4,6,8). My question is, are vented heavybarrel/shrouds combinations inherently more accurate than the vented barrel/shrouds combinations?

I seriously doubt there is any accuracy difference between the shroud types. The VH style is heavier and could help with recoil and muzzel flip, but aside from that, there should be no difference. The tensioning system for the barrel tube is the same regardless of the shroud style, and that is what helps give Dan Wesson's their high degree of accuracy.

I can't see any reason for there to be a difference. If you looked at the extreme comparison of a 2" versus one of the (rare) 15" barrels, even in a DW you might get some barrel whip or flexing, but the 15" barrels are only standard shroud. I shudder to think what a 15VH might weigh!
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
