Gents, I joined this forum because it looks like most guys here know more about this particular firearm than most gunsmiths. I own the infamous “pork chop” .357 W12 (Lieutenant Dan) and I’m strangely attached to it. Recently I’ve begun to have issues with it. More and more often when I pull the trigger or cock the hammer, the cylinder won’t cycle. Other times it will lock up completely. I contacted a couple of parts dealers and they both think it’s an issue with the hand spring. Unfortunately they don’t carry the hand spring for this model anymore but I was instructed to use the model 15 spring and “trim to fit”. The problem is that the old hand spring appears to have moved from it proper position, so I’d ont know how to position the new spring. Without a visual, I can’t even begin to figure out how to trim it to fit. I was hoping that maybe one of you guys would be willing to post a picture of the internal action with the shroud removed so I can better gage what it should look like. Also, I have seen the parts schematic online but it only shows the assembly blown up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
