I don't know the weight specs but they are about the same. Both have the under lug cut off but the length is the same! Also you will see some barrels that do not have the vent cuts on top. If you have a 10V there will be 5 vents, and going down an 8 inch barrel will have 4 vents and so on. Of course the non VH barrel will be lighter. The pic shows my 44 mag next to a 357 max which is a large frame gun similar to the 44. Don't let the 357 part throw you it's really as big or bigger than
a 44 mag as far as the shrouds go!Dans Club

A vent shroud is considerably lighter than a vent heavy shroud. The 44 mag 8"VH was too heavy for IHMSA but DW shaved some of the underlug off the bottom so it would quailify. The 10" Vent (91/5" actually) does make the weight limit. The Supermag guns are heavier due to the longer frame but DW slotted the shrouds to keep it under the weight limit. Unslotted 8 and 10" VH are too heavy. The 357 Maximum. (Model 40/740) is heavier than the 375,414,and 445 because of the smaller chambers and bore. Same goes for the 375 compared to the 414 and 445. Ditto the 414 versus the 445. For hunting there is no problem with weight although a 10" VH is very heavy. As far as I know there are no Standard or Heavy Shroud (non vented) in the large and Supermag guns.
