Did not want to highjack the KARMA thread with more questions. SHOOT said in post that the large frame hogue grips were square hole.  What about the small frame Hogue's ? are they square as well ? Also I thought I read somewhere that factory DW large frame round hole grips would fit on a small frame, is this true ? If so do they JUST fit or do they fit Good ?

Blacktop,

Neither the large frame factory round hole or the Hogue large frame square hole grips will fit small frame revolvers.  If I'm not mistaken the Hogue grips are two separate panels that have been glued together.  So I'm assuming that its easier for them to mill the square notch rather than a round one for the large frames.

Jody,

Thanks Chief, that answer's that. Guess I will have to get a large frame if I wanna play with the big grips. Would like to find a "Dirty Harry" 44 with standard barrel, no vent rib, 6 inches.

If that's really what you're lloking for, then you'll have to get a Smith & Wesson Model 29/629 and it, comveniently does not have a vented rib.

What ? Surprised Dan don't come like that ? Thought I saw one on someones collection page. I guess I could settle for the vent rib but it would definitly have to have the standard barrel.

You did say you wanted a "Dirty Harry" .44.  I was taking you literally.

DW .44's do come without the full under lug, "heavy", shroud, and while I have seen model 15-2's and 715's without vents in the rib, I don't think I've ever seen a 44/744 with an un-vented rib.  You might have a tough time finding this, assuming it was ever produced.  Others here know more than I do so hopefully someone with definitive knowledge about this issue will chime in.

See, I was right.  There are others who know more than me.  Now, the question is: are there any FB guns without the heavy under lug?

Too many variations and abberations.  We can't keep track of them all.  That's the problem with modularity.
