I have a Dan Wesson 44 mag blued on the side it has Dan Wesson Arms Monson Mass serial # B01585x. if you open the revolver on the inside there is a 40 stamped. I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on what the value of the gun might be. Condition is Near perfect. The only thing I know about the gun is early to mid 80's, and they made a few different barrels for it. I have the wrench, and the thin piece of metal that you check the spacing with. It has the 6' inch barrel. Thanks in advance. Can post pics if need be.

That is a Model 44 with 6VH (Vent Heavy) barrel from1983. I'd guess this might sell appropriately in the $500 range in very good condition. A minor observation is that the very small hex tip to remove the front sight is broken off the barrel wrench, a not uncommon occurrence.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Congratulations - you will love shooting your 44!
Looking at your picture, it appears that you have another barrel in the wrapper. The early 44s were shipped with 2 barrels. One had holes around the end that line up with 2 slots in the top of the shroud. This is the "ported" barrel. I recommend that you do not use it unless you disassemble the barrel/shroud and clean well every time you shoot it. Otherwise it will build up so much crud inside the shroud that it will be hard to remove the shroud. Been there - done that! The purpose of porting was to help reduce movement while firing, but it really doesn't do enough to justify the hassle.
Enjoy! and to

First off, . Now a question, what are the two small metal items that look like key heads with two prongs? Also what is the black object lower right in the pic?
Ditto on what Snake-eye said about the power control barrel.

Scorpio - that's a trigger lock and 2 keys to go with it.
Jimr - the crane assy. if a "factory fit only' part - you'll have to send it up to the factory for a crane replacement. You're looking at $75 plus labor, shipping both ways, and anything else that may need replacing. I'd plan on budgeting $200 - $250 if you want to repair it.

Damn, that doesn't look like any gun lock I've got, all mine have 'real' keys. Some of mine are the 'beaded chain' and hasp design you get with new semi autos. My LCP came with a giant pad lock like you'd use with a bicycle! Its almost bigger than the gun.
That must be a vintage trigger lock.

That lock clamps around the trigger, inside the trigger guard. The two prong key unscrews a clamping screw between the two halves of the lock. Not intended to be a keyed lock, but to keep kids and inexperienced gun handlers from making a mistake.
