So I found out today that a friend of a friend has a Monson made .357 Magnum, serial number 30910x. The gun includes three different barrels (not sure which length), the tool, and two different wooden grips. It's a blued steel finish.
- What model has he got?
- What is the approximate value of the setup? (good to very good condition)
Thanks in advance,
Mike

It's a model 15-2 if it has adjustable target sights, which the odds are it does.
If by some chance it has a fixed year sight, it would be a 14-2 (not likely).
That pistol is chambered for .357mag and will fire .38 special as well.
It sounds like a Pistol Pac (or the remnants of one) - which generally is:
4 barrels: 2.5", 4", 6", 8"
1 Revolver Frame
1 Target grip
1 Combat or Sacramento grip
1 Barrel changing tool
1 Hard sided "briefcase"
Optional: "vanity items" - belt buckle, jacket patch, keychain (?)
Value: if a complete pistol pac $650 - 850
If it is just 3 barrels, a frame, 2 grips and tool (this is my best guess): $475 - $600.
Wait for some other opinions on value.

Sounds like he's got a Pistol Pac. Does he have a suitcase too, like this?
The model is a model 15, then there's three differen barrel configurations that are available. If it's really clean, in good shape & mostly complete, I would say that it's at least worth $700...possibly much more, depending on what all's there.

It may not be an original Pistol Pack, but even if it's a M&M (mix & match), you're looking for a shooter and not a collectors item, and it's in the $500-600 range it could be a good deal. I'm trying to hook a buddy up for a good deal on a similar package that is "excess to my needs", but he may not have the ability to do it right now. If not, it's coming here first.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
