Here's my next Question/not a Poll;

What do you want for your next Dan Weson?

A few "rules" on this one:

  1. Needs to be something that is at least sort of available
  2. No multiple choices-just one pick
  3. Needs to be something you would actually buy, ie-no NIB/unfired 744 Pistol Packs unless you would actually pay $2000-3000 for it

Basically, what is The One you want to stumble across tomorrow that you would buy at a reasonable prevailing Market price? Also, what makes this The One ?

For me, it's a Monson 744 4"VH. I think I could jump on something like this pretty easily, mainly because it would complete a Stainless TriFecta (.22/.357/.44), and then the Twins become the Triplets (separated at birth Surprised?)

Steve

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Rats you made this hard!

It's a tough choice between the 2 I really want.  Oh well, I guess I'll pick the rarer of the 2:

Monson 7414VH8S.  Yes, that's a .414 SM in stainless with a Vented Heavey 8 inch Slotted barrel.

Mike,

You'll have to jump ahead one factory or two.  Palmer was the first plant to actually produce the 414 revolver and they only made twenty five of them.  I do not know for sure, but the only two I have ever seen are the one I have and IHMSA 80X80 has one in his gallery as well and I think these were all built with standard slotted shrouds and not the VHS.  Norwich made by all estimates I have heard around 100 of them.  That would be the most likely version you'll come across.

Steve,

Mine would be uh hum a 744 VH pack of some sort like the one that just sold on GB tonight, but out of my range.  I would apparently have to find it locally and would get right to the paperwork.   That would be “the one”

I would have to pick a model 460/7460 as I like the concept of a multi-caliber revolver with interchangeable barrels.  Probably represents the oppitamy of the Dan Wesson revolver design.

This IS a pretty tough question.Wink

Other than  Pistol Pac, the one gun that I have wanted for many years has been a .445 SuperMag 10" compensated barrel in stainless. I have never seen one with my own eyes, but I have sure salivated over them in catalogs & magazines...and even right here on this site.Laugh

A  couple monts ago, Jody posted a link to a guy selling one in Alaska. I left multiple messages on his phone, but didn't get a call back. It wasn't meant to be, so I bought my Model 40 instead, and I am very grateful for it.

Maybe one of these days I will be able to grab an elusive 445.Smile

This would have been easy two weeks ago but I found my jack pot. Now I am just on the prowl for any DW with a good price tag. ( yea right) But if I must chose, it would be an original model 15 pac in good shape with all the accessories. Just because that is the one that started this crazy affliction we seem to have. At least for me any way.

Or a,,, Or a,,, Well you said only one right.

I have thought several times lately that I should sell the Model 15 that started my addiction and see if that cures me before I go broke.

Anyone want to by a beautiful M-15, I am feeling the urge for a 357 Supermag. Surprised

That's a pretty easy question for me.

My next DW will be a Model15 or 715. I purchased the Supermags I wanted already and thought I would save the reasonable priced items for last. Besides, I already have bullets and dies for a 357 in stock.Wink

All my Dan Wessons are the large frame version and Supermag extended frame guns. Despite wanting more versions of those, my next Dan Wesson to add to the collection is:

715-VH8

OK, it doesn't have to be a 715, a blued 15 would do just as well..with zebrawood grips, of course.

Thanks.  For some reason I thought that the first 25 were made in Monson.  With only 125 total available, I'll probably never get one.  It doesn't matter though, I still want one and a 741 to match. Laugh

I would love to have one of the 45's either the 45 LC or the 460.  I have a Ruger in 45 and would love to see what the DW could do with the Long Colts.

Are you guys saying or talking about a 41 Magnum? I looked at a 41 magnum couple of weeks ago at a gun show. Blued model with a vented shroud and was tagged at $595 or $695, not sure which as I looked at it and a couple other guns at the guys table but didn't pick it up. I believe it was an 8″ or 10″ barrel and looked in good shape but I didn't pick it up as it said Model 414 and I assumed it was 41 magnum, not sure now if it said caliber but I kind of think it did. I had just bought a 744 and said too bad I can not buy them all and walked off, I may have goofed up.

Waldo,

If it was a 414 especially in blue it was a rarity to be sure.  I have never seen a blue 414.  It would have been GTDW if it was a 414 at that price.

It did say 414, but if your telling me I missed a buy of a lifetime I will not be able to sleep tonight. I just prefer SS to blue for shooters and never considered the gun. At the time was thinking about selling my Model 15 to help fund a Marlin 1894 (44 Rem Mag) or a 1894 22 WMRF if one comes by at a good price. I do want a 357 Super magnum in stainless if one ever comes around at a reasonable price (hahaha) that I can afford. That would complete my collection.

I have the 722, 715, & 744 at present, and the 722 has a magnum cylinder to boot now.

Sounds like a NY gun if it was in blue, but a .414 is very difficult to find. They do make sleeping pills for that kind of thing...
