Dave- Welcome to DWF, when you have a chance, please stop by New Members and tell us a little yourself and your Dan Wesson.
Photos will help, but if yours has an adjustable rear sight and is blue it's likely a 15-2, stainless would be a 715. Fixed rear sight would be a 14-2 or 714. Barrel configurations range from the standard solid rib to vent rib, heavy underlug, vent rib heavy.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
