I've searched around and just can't quite figure out the model of my Dad's 357 Magnum. I think it's a 15-2 but not sure. I want to know the model and year.

Correct, that is a model 15-2 with a Standard 4" barrel shroud .. nice handgun. To estimate the year, get your serial number and look at the forum's Serial Number Registry;

715 Serial 00255X . Am I understanding right that this is a 1970 vintage?
No, the model 715 was not produced until 1982 I believe. Interesting serial number though, I have never seen one like "S / 00255x" before and the Registry does not have anything similar as a guide either.

Hmmm so depending on production volume , it must be early 80's ?
I had looked through the serial numbers and didnt see any 4 digit #'s . Probably gonna try to find a 4" and a loooong barrel just to try out .

The DW factory still produces the model 715 and spare parts, including barrel assemblies are readily available (don't go to the CZ website, call or email Shawn to find out what is in stock).
The new style stainless shrouds are slightly different aesthetically, but will fit and function on your frame just fine. You can also attach a blue shroud to your stainless frame (a pinto), because I don't believe they produced the 10", 12" or 15" BA's in stainless.

Manufacture date on both pacs would be 1977, and are 15-2's. The 8" revolver is wearing an original Dan Wesson grip. The grip not mounted is for from a High Standard, but fits a DW. The other grip looks to be custom; perhaps another member could identify. No matter, it obviously fits.
You could put the High Standard grip up on eBay and get a good price from a HS collector. Just a thought, but it will work just fine on your DW.

Thanks 3ric! Just the info I was looking for. I guess the extra stocks were lost at some point along the way. Oh well. If anyone is interested in the HS or has any spare DW stocks they would like to deal just let me know. Would love to get the packs as close to original as possible. A also have a pretty good inventory of what appears to be original stocks from various old pistol models if anyone is looking for something specific. Thanks again, love the forum.

Hello everyone, I was wondering if someone wouldn’t mind helping me valise my Dan Wesson .357 revolver. It was made in Monson Mass and it’s model number is MAS-1, I don’t really know what that means and i was curious to see what it’s worth. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Pictures are essential. I think you mean serial number. That would be a custom number. They did a lot of them for folks. All records have been disappeared by the BATF. Before the digital age so they are probably rat nests in some warehouse. You can make up any story you want. A picture will enable us to give you the model number. Or start at the begining of this topic and read until you find out. Only 15 pages.

Speaking of serial numbers, most Dan Wesson folks don't put much emphasis on them. Without any providence possible it doesn't seem to enhance the value. We mainly date the gun with it. It also prevents chromed guns from being mistaken for Stainless Steel.
With that being said, did anyone notice the ANIB 14-2 that sold recently on Gunbroker. It had a serial # of PR-001. The P and R and the dash looked like it was hand stamped. I bought it for a record price for a 14-2. No problem. In a couple of years it will be worth it. I suspect it stands for Prototype 001. The box was of a later vintage but it may have been in the safe without a box and at some point sold or given to an employee. All speculation. If anyone has information please come forth.

I just acquired this one a week ago. Looking through the registry, it seems to be a model 715 of approximately 1986 vintage from Monson Mass, am i correct?
It's in great shape, and as soon as I get my tooling from EWK, I will break it down and go through it.
Any suggestions as to a good leather holster for it?

Also, with that serial number you have an early 15-2, which is significant with regard to the cylinder and crane arrangement. These are different from later guns, and require different procedures for adjusting endplay if needed. Hopefully you won’t need to worry about it.

Trying to figure out what model I just bought. I think it's a 15-2? Don't know the age though.
A friend sold me this for $800, hoping I didn't get screwed. Seems to be about right based on some stuff I was finding. I probably should have created an account here and asked beforehand.
Any identifying help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Welcome to the Forum.
Definitely a 15-2. Probably sold between 1973 and 1975.
I would say you bought near the top of the current market, which is going up fast. Looks in good condition on the right side. It would help to have a picture of the other side. Did you get a barrel tool or gap gauge with it? You will need those before shooting it. Did you check for function?
