Aussie Mike- Welcome to the DWF and thanks for the intro on the new members thread. We have a few members who have popped in from Australia over the years. The photo leaves a lot to be desired regarding condition, I agree. If it functions, I would not be surprised if someone were asking $500-550 USD.
What they're offering for sale is a Model 15-2 with a vent rib, heavy or full underlug 6" barrel = 15-2 VH6 with a manufactured year of 1978 or 79 most likely. It also sports the short hammer spur...
Make sure to read: Revolver checkout

Thanks for the response Ron,
I guessed it was an early model given the limited knowledge and research I have done so it is good to have confirmation. The price is well below what you believe it to be valued in US$ so that is very attractive for me however where it gets tricky is I can not see the gun personally and have no one I can ask to inspect it for me as it is over 2000 miles away. I'm sure it has done lots of work but they were built tough and it could well have many years of life left? BTY the revolver checkout list is excellent and very valuable to have access to. I'm thinking if I can pick this up for a couple of hundred US$ it's probably worth the risk ? if it needs new parts are they difficult to source given it's age ? I will try and speak with the seller/ dealer tomorrow morning and quiz him a little more and make a decision. I'd really like to own a DWF .357. Once again thank you for responding and providing your knowledge.

Mike,
The grip alone is worth $100, so a couple hundred for the gun is a very good risk.
Parts are easy to get in the US. International shipping can be a problem, and expensive. You will need a barrel tool to adjust the cylinder/barrel gap; and a gap gauge (automotive feeler gauge, .006, works fine).
Good Luck!

Thanks everyone for your rapid response and informative feedback based on this I have gone ahead and purchased the gun. I ended up paying US$150 for it, turns out it belongs to a dealer who getting out the handgun part of his business and due to state laws needs to off load his stock asap (well that's the story anyhow!!) He swears blind it functions well and he calls it "good condition" I guess we shall see when it arrives. I'm very much looking forward to owning this as I have always desired a DWF .357 and I will look forward to putting some rounds through it as soon as it arrives and licence requirements are complete. Believe it or not a PTA (permit to acquire) currently takes 10-12 weeks in my state so I have plenty of time to wait before using it. Once again thanks for your advice and I would be keen to get any tips on owning this firearm.
