I just figured it would be interesting seeing if Dan Wesson revolvers like the same loadings, type, or brand… of ammunition. You can put down what ammo is the MOST ACCURATE, GREATEST VALUE, or great DEFENSE LOADS and HUNTING LOADS gosh darnet even your FAVORITE HANDLOAD. For your handloads it would be nice for you to note the bullet (type&weight) and powder (type & amount). Also would be good for all of us to see what ammo gets a thumbs up or thumbs down and see what's worth tryin' out.
My Dan Wesson model 14 (6inch barrel): is used for home defense and I use Remington r357m2 158gr SJHP.
My “monster tackdriver” Dan Wesson 744 VH10: Loves this load. Hornady 300 GR HP bullet with 15gr. of Alliant 2400 HOT LOAD. I can get 3″ groups at 100 yards with this load benchrested. Knocks down those rams with ease.

OK, here's what mine like best.
740-V8S Speer 180 grain TMJ or Hornady 180 grain JTC-SIL, 20.5 grains IMR-4227, Federal nickel brass, Federal 205M primer.
Speer 200 grain TMJ, 20 grains IMR-4227, Federal nickel brass, Federal 205M primer.
722-VH10 Eley Standard, Match, Tenex, Club or the newer 2008 versions of Eley Target, and Eley Team. Basically, any Eley standard velocity rifle ammo, except the Eley Sport made in Mexico, that comes in the purple and yellow boxes.
741-V10
741-VH6
741-SRS-1
This one is easy. Hornady 210 grain JTC-SIL, 20.5 grains H-110, Federal brass, Federal 150 primer. I can substitute the W-296 in the same amount, or the Federal 155 primer. This load is superbly accurate in all my .41 Magnums.
7414-V8S Hornady 210 grain JTC-SIL, 30 grains AA-1680, Starline brass, Federal 210 primer.
Sierra 220 grain FPJ, 24 grains Lil Gun, Starline brass, Federal 210 primer.
375-V8S Hornady 220 grain FN, 21 grains H-4227, IHMSA brass, Federal 210 primer. Same load also works in cut-down .375 Winchester cases.
744-VH10 Sierra 250 grain FPJ, 23 grains W-296, Starline brass, Federal 155 primer.
7445-V8S Sierra 250 grain FPJ, 35 grains AA-1680, IHMSA brass, Federal 155 primer.
Hornady 300 grain XTP, 32 grains AA-1680, IHMSA brass, Federal 155 primer.
40-VH6 Nickel Hornady 180 grain JTC-SIL, 20 grains H-4227, Federal nickel brass, Federal 205M primer.
Hope this helps. Of course, the usual cautions apply concerning working up safely in YOUR gun.

First off all my loads are developed with home cast bullets sized to .358 using standard wheel weights, Winchester brass and CCI standard small pistol primers in magnum and Remington brass and CCI small rifle primers in Maximum
.357 Magnum: my standard load is 13.2 gr. of 2400 with the Lyman #358156 Semi-wadcutter which for whatever reason always weigh around 165gr. (it's supposed to be 156gr.) that load has yet to shoot bad in any .357 it's been shot in.
I've started to develop a load for .357magnum with 180gr. bullets (Saeco mold #354 Flat nose) but haven't done any accuracy testing just velocity testing so far. trying to get something that flies similar to my Maximum. highest so far and it was leading up was 15.3 grs. Hodgdon Lil' Gun using magnum primers out of my “Python” was 1486, 1457 and 1409 with some major pressure signs. DON'T run that load unless you work up to it slowly, Lil' Gun acts like H110 in that the pressure changes alot with only a few tenths of a grain.
.357 Maximum: I used to run H4227 and ever since they quit making it I have been searching for something to replace it. So far AA-1680 is the powder that gives the best performance for hunting purposes and IMR-4227 is what I shoot for target work. Although the 1680 does seem to beat 4227 in accuracy, I don't have a powder measure that will feed it without leaking all over or binding up on a progressive type setup. So I am stuck with loading it in single station style and that means I can't shoot 1680 unless I want to spend all my time loading instead of shooting which just isn't going to happen.
IMR-4227 20grs.
AA-1680 24.0 grs. (accurate)
AA-1680 24.8 grs. (hunting and still accurate)

You gotta get a 715, a 722M and a 738P so we can have all the answers.
Well, what about a 732, 7320, 7360, 7460…can't leave them out.
Hey, there's a lot of stuff you CAN get, all the "cool guys" at least have a 15/715 . I got a 744 Tag, You're It
(4 different smileys in the same post- a DWF record?)
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Oh good grief. I guess if ya don't own or want 'em, ya don't think of them. Personally, I never saw much point in the Rowland. The 7360 is covered by my 715 and 740. And the .32's, well, if they could take a diet of .327 Federal Magnums.. then I would have to find one.

LOL! this is a great thread...
I could almost read Steve's post without looking at the words...probably a record Steve...
But I agree with Zoom, this is awesome info and I have to get into reloading. Thinking about a Rock Chucker in my garage...CDF referred me on a used one but I missed it (already sold).
If I buy a .357SM I could tell the wife I have to have the 'chucker to make ammo for it...hmmm....

WOW! I always thought the .460 was for the Rowland. Are you saying that there was a .460 with a case length of 1.610 as the other Gates SuperMag cartridges? I did a search an your personal gallery comes up. You have a whole lot more handguns than I ever imagined. I knw about the .505SM and the .610SM but not the .460. Tell me more about the DW .460.

I just received a brick of Federal #100 small pistol primers as payment for watching a friend's Husky. I have never used these before, normally I load with Winchester and Winchester Mags. What can I expect if I load .357 mag loads with 14 grains of 2400 and a 158 gr. LSWC? Also, can anyone comment on the differences between the CCI, Winchester and Federal primers? Probably should have started a new thread but what the hay. To stay right with the post my 15's like both
3.0 gr. Bullseye 148 gr. HBWC loads
and
14gr. 2400 with the 158 gr. SWC or JHP loads.

I might have me a few guns.
Check out 460SMDave's post, like SMG says. Wasn't there also a .460 SuperMag sold recently? A short-barrel NY gun?
There is also a .32 SuperMag, but it never got off the ground. I do have a piece of correctly headstamped brass for the project in my collection. It is not the .32 H&R Magnum, but the full-length 1.6" case.

The 460 sold recently was a 460 Roland. Nice lookin shooter but not a SM. The 32 SM sounds cool but did any ever get produced? I have never heard of one much less seen one. I would assume it would be similar to the federal 327 mag. If brass exists, I would have to assume there is at least a prototype out there some where.

Hey IHMSA80x80 I think a picture is in order! I searched the Internet and didn't turn up anything!
That probably could have made an 8 shot .32 SM which would have been pretty cool!
