Thanks lbruce, I wasn't sure which one that was, the Roland or SuperMag.
The story I heard on the .320 SuperMag was that the brass was ordered, then whoever ordered it, backed out on the deal, leaving Bertram Brass in Australia holding the bag. That is the two symbols seen on the headstamp, dual kangaroos. I do not know when the brass was made, or how much was actually saved. I believe, they destroyed most of them.
As far as the gun? No clue which factory may have made one or two as prototypes, or what happened to them.
"As I went through your 149 pages of images..." Wow, that's a lot of pages! Set that to show 30 images per page and it isn't so bad. I have two galleries there, under these 2 names
IHMSA80x80
IHMSA80
The first one I couldn't add to after awhile, something won't work on it to upload, so it is the older one. Had to create gallery number 2, which is more current pics, newer guns and lots of ammo pics. Hope you enjoy viewing them.
The 80x80 plaques were with my Unlimited guns, the single-shots, and one Production gun, an MOA Maximum. The closest I got with a Revolver was 76x80. I'll keep working on the wheelguns, another of my silhouette goals, but revolver perfect scores are somewhat hard to come by.
Here's the .320 Supermag case next to a loaded Winchester .357 Maximum case.

Jaggman,
You can technically fire 44 magnum and 44 special from a 445SM. It is not recomended for the resons as mentioned when answering the 357SM vs. 357 magnum question in an earlier post. The 445 cases can be difficult to insert ir extract over time if cleaning of the cylinders is not meticulous. the bullet also has to travel further until it reaches the forcing cone area with the shorter cases which can over time wear the forcing cone prematurely. The 445SM is available from several smaller specialty ammo shops on the internet but it is not commercially produced by any of the major ammo manufacturers. I believ Buffalo Bore has just added it to their line.

1st- Primers. Winchester Magnums are HOT! Really hot! On my chrono, they typically vary by 80-100 fps and can generate over 80 fps more than other mag primers. CCis' are mid range, just like the Federals. I find the CCI's vary marginally with identical charges of powders. I tried the Fed Mag Match grade primers. Nothing to write home about.
Let the eupro's keep their primers for their 9mm's. Have fun with those primers boys!
As for the Remmingtons, they seem pretty mild. Again, this is chronograph testing backed up by target measurements at 200 meters.
2nd. Powders. If you mix 296 and Winchester Mag primers, NEVER exceded Winchesters max charges. Win says 16.6 gr of 296, Win mag primers for a 357 magnum. Gawd, that's HOT.
Did I mention Winchesters are HOT?
Want to try a cool experiment? Size your cases, about 5 for each primer type and manufacture. Tthen go out at night and shoot the "blank's" load of just case and primer, sans powder and bullet. Get an observer with a keen eye to view you shooting 90 degrees from you, about 25 away, so they can get a clear view of the flashes that'll take place. Make sure the spotter is safe because if something happens you'll have a hard time getting another one. Have the spotter note the flame flash between the barrel gap and exiting the muzzle. You're looking for consistancy of the flame front and the length and brigthness of the flash. I'll bet you'll find the mid range magnum primers are the most consistant.
In my testing, I've found primers that are mid range, magnum or standard, burn longer and more evenly. Hot primers are inconsistant and burn really quick. This is just seat of the pants observation.
My loads;
15-2 .357 DWA 8 inch barrel, 158 Winchester HP, 16.2 H110, CCI Mag primers, R-P nickel cases, excellent accuracy
Same 15-2 8 inch; 170 Sierra FMJ round nose, Lil' Gun @ 16.0 grs. CCI Mag primers, RP nickel case. Outstanding accuracy. As fast as the 158's or slightly faster!
DWA .44 mag. 9.7 inch barrel. 265 Hornady SP. 22.5 grs 296, Winchester mag primers, Winchester brass. HOT and accurate-target grade.
Same DWA .44 Mag. H4227 @ 22.0 grs, RP brass, CCI Mag primer, 265 Hornady. Accurate! Shot a five leaf clover group with this at 25 yrds. Slower than the above load by about 100 fps.
Good shooting!
PS- Winchesters are the hottest primers you'll find. Always start out with a light load and work up. Combining a Win mag primer and somethng like 296, H110 and a full house can rattle your gun loose! Trust me, I found out.
