I rarely look at eBay any more, but I did just the other day. The prices were high, and I actually saw some 2's and 4's. Just a hint, they were at least 6 pages in so look deep.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

No barrel over 8" today.
Looking for anything over 8" is WAY different. If you want over 8", you need to:
1) be very active on every possible site
2) have $$$ ready right now, by credit card, money order, first born child
3) be the Big Dog, go BIG or stay home

So it seems that if you want something 10" or over, you may just have to buy a gun!
That was my excuse with this one!!
Honestly though, there were only a certain amount of a barrel (or gun) combinations manufactured...so one must assume that after a certain point, the well may somehow dry up! Odd, I know.
So the sad reality of present day is that genuine scores are fewer & farther in between. Much of this can be directly attributed to the hard work of the and more of it can be indirectly gauged from the actions of our current Dork in Chief & his minions!

It really just struck me the other day.... This obvious, but it came as a realization.... There is a limited supply of all Dan Wesson original "stuff". As the years go by, that supply tends to dwindle and there are cycles when people hold on to what they have. As they perceive they cannot replace it, they choose not to sell it unless 1. they can get a wade of cash for it, 2. for some reason they no longer care for what they own, the luster has dimmed.
I've noticed at my LGS where they used to ALWAYS be a good proportion of very interesting used guns, there are next to none any more. It's been that way for a couple of years now, perhaps several. I've found some very interesting and really uncommon things there for good prices, things I would not have expected to see here in Vermont, but not any more. If there are used, they are "common" things you can still buy new.
The market has changed and with Dan Wesson revolvers not longer being made and with CZ/Dan Wesson not appearing to want to get into the market with any "testicles" (no denigration intended), the supply gets more and more constrained every day, the perceived rarity goes up, people are willing to pay more, so the prices rise and fewer people are willing to sell.
I've seen, as most of you have, the prices get ridiculous on GB and GA for guns that you could get reasonably. For example, S&W 1006, 1076 and so on. Used to be $400, now $1000 to $1200 for good specimens, or more for NOS. It's crazy.

Yes, it's sad but true. I recently bought an entire 715 just to get the VH10 for my PP. Now I have a frame that needs a bunch of BA's.
Wish me luck.
