I'm trying to buy one from CZ-USA, but when I click on the "BUY" button it won't load it into my cart. I emailed the site yesterday and will keep trying. I discovered my 8 inch barrel is ported! I thought it was just the shroud that was ported but when I foamed the barrel it came out the ports! I guess the barrel uses 5 or 6 little holes to feed the larger shroud ports. Hopefully the foam cleaner will get in the nooks and crannies because it would be a pain to take the barrel out to clean everytime. I'll take some pics soon (even though its a well worn blued beauty! It doesn't have the full under lug so it looks like a SW 29 on steroids! Accurate and only $400! AND no mandatory wait ( bought used from a private party). Thanks for the forum!

Deerhunter, sounds like you made a good score. It may be a pain to take the shroud off and clean but you need to from time to time or it will never come off. Most say every few hundred rounds or so and also do not shoot non jacketed bullets in the ported barrel as the lead shavings will stick it for sure. I just use non ported barrels to save the hassle. Good luck. By the way, we like pics here when you get a chance.

Wisdom is merely the realization of how little one knows, therefore I am wise.

I just want to underscore what lbruce said as I have some experience with this. DO NOT USE non jacketed bullets. I had forgotten that my 4" barrel was ported and fired about 200 rounds of lead bullets down range and I thought I would never get that shroud off the clean in side it.
I definately need to pick me up a 4" non ported barrel now that I think about it.

Great news! My fiber optic sight came in the mail today!!! It's on and looks great. I was worried when I got an email reply that they were out of stock and I had ordered one by phone an hour before so I wasn't sure which was right. Are these still being made or are they old stock? I spent a long time trying to post some pics but in the end I wasn't comfortable with photobucket's privacy terms. I'm happy to send pics thru email though!
Thanks for the advice!
Now I'm ready to experiment with which Hornady bullet to hunt with. I'm hoping to use the 300 grain xtp, but will also try the 240 xtp and the 225 ftx.
