I haven't posted since I came here with an intro but I have added some stuff to the collection. Will throw up some pictures of the .41 I got and I also bought a newer 1911 Specialist. (distressed finished). Been shooting and having fun trying to dial in the perfect gap for the big .44 +p buffalo loads.
To the point of my topic name, I have been looking for a long time for a .357 4 barrel pistol pac with heavy or full lug barrels but unable to find anything reasonable, or even half way reasonable. I found a pistol pack on GB and was hasty and bought it, when I picked it up today I saw the receiver and one barrel had white engraved lettering and serial number. For some reason I can't post pictures, will try in the morning again though.
I have never seen that, I am assuming it was refinished and someone did that not knowing. Am I wrong or has there been some DW revolvers with white engraving.
I'll get to posting some pics and other stuff over this weekend.
Edit: Definitely not an original pac, my fault for not paying attention. When I go to upload a picture it won't give me the option to locate or browse my laptop to insert the picture. Anyone having the same issue? I am trying to add an attachment now to see if that works.
Should I remove the crap or just sell it & keep looking for the full lug set?

Usually the white in the laser etching happens when the process is done post blueing/duty treat. DW did a lot of this early on after Bob Serva bought the company and some models up into 2011/12 time frame on the 1911's. Maybe some of the crowd that is more familiar with the revo's will chime in.
Dans and other Revolvers sometimes have white or yellow filling in the roll marks. Serial numbers and address on the frame and caliber on the shrouds. I thought they were special in the begining of my DWAS. Alas, a little Flitz will quickly remove the filling and expose the original blue roll mark. Nothing special about it. Some sellers will apply the 'stuff' to S&Ws and other insignia to highlight them. If only one shroud and the frame have the filling it is likely not an original pack but one created by accumulating parts.

I'd leave it alone the way it is now - everything appears to be in really nice condition. I actually think it looks pretty nice with the white filling and there's no telling if it was done from the factory or afterward. There were so many "oddities" that came out of the factory over the years it's hard to tell when it was done.
I don't know what your goal is with a with a pack....If you're going to shoot it I'd hang on to it and leave it the way it is. If you mess with it you're going to risk damaging the blue finish....it happens every time.

I'd guess it's Testers paint or fingernail polish. Not original- just a PO attempt at high lighting for whatever reason. Some acetone and a toothpick should take care of it. Or leave it- it's yours now so do whatever.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

What you need to do, is sell me that gorgeous 1947-50 Pan.
Not yet LOL. That's actually a pretty unique bike build. It was featured in 1st print re-issue edition of Easyriders. I didn't submit it, they heard about it & sent it a studio. Got a big spread in the magazine. It has a cool story behind it, but the writer got it all wrong. Anyway, it actually is a mess of stuff, 1969 shovel cases with T&O torque monster stroke flywheels, original ratchet tranny that came with motor, P Series S&S heads with roller rockers, pretty decent cam, foot clutch, gate shifter, OE 1965 one year frame (unmolested), pogo seat on a swingarm, mechanical front drum brakes, juiced rear drum, electronic iggy, evo oiling conversion, working mechanical siren, flashing red front lights (it's a "cop" bike). And some other goodies. It's not easy but a blast to ride, like a carnival ride or something. Has gobs of power (too much actually). People love it, makes kids smile when I hit the siren & have the lights flashing. Here's some studio pics.

Posted in haste before I left to go shooting this morning but thought about this. Your gun has roll mark 'stamped' letters so there is no laser to cause the chemical reaction that turns them the whitish hue. Some one did those with a paint, but they did a hell a job. I personally think it looks good, I would leave it until it appears shabby looking from handling , then remove it. Solvents (acetone, lacquer thinner) shouldn't affect the blueing, if in doubt take the grip off and test a small spot that will be hidden.

Those are good points, I think I'll leave it for now but will test under the handle if I want to remove the white paint. Will be at the range tomorrow shooting a few guns, I need to see if I have any .357 ammo to shoot this one.
