There should be a marked, the only problem is that stupid gun lock requirement.

It is normal to remove that function on new revolvers here in norway entirely, since it causes a lot of problems with the function and feel of the trigger mechanism.

From of what we've been told up to this point, they have no plans to bring back the DW revolvers. It's hard to say what the future holds, though.Smile

The last time I talked to Keith he was not as firm about DW not producing revolvers.  I have high hope that within the next 2 years we might see some limited runs.  This is purely optimistic speculation on my part.

Next year marks the 40th Anniversary of the first DW shipment so it would certainly be nice to have a 40th Anniversary revolver!

I think it is possible that there will be new production Dan Wesson revolvers, for several reasons:

1) Well respected name and tradition.

2) Proven design, unique from any other revolver design. I believe the new Dan Wesson would be similar in design and function, not interchangeable with the originals, however. The interchangeable barrel concept gives a built in market for additional sales for the manufacturer that could not be fulfilled by aftermarket suppliers (how many places can you buy upgrade and replacement pieces for a 1911? Plenty!)

3) The Performance Center concept of S&W, allowing a premium price for innovative and limited production run revolvers tailored to specific needs lends itself to the modular DW concept

4) DW reputation for strength and durability lends itself to big bore revolvers in particular. by and large, if you want to fire a handgun in a caliber greater than .45, you're looking at a revolver. There are certainly exceptions to this last point, but there are many more big bore revolvers than autoloaders, it's got to be less expensive to tool up and build a big thumper in revolver than as an autoloader.

Unfortunately, I also believe that the new Dan Wesson revolver will be a premium, limited production, upper tier priced item, which is not true to the Daniel B. Wesson heritage.

Anyhow, that's my take

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

All good points guys. And I certainly hope they do bring the revolvers back. In my opinione revolvers seem to be coming back around in popularity at least somewhat anyway. I probably couldn't afford a speciality production model as Steve described but my main concern is they continue to support and produce parts for our wheel guns. I fear if they do not start producing revolvers again parts and accessories( barrels/ shrouds and such) will become to costly to produce. It would be a terrible shame for some of our prized DWs to become paper weights and or wall decorations due to not being able to get parts. Just my thoughts on the subject.  Yes I do dream about new and wild calibers of DWs left only to the imagination. A 423 super extended short mag comes to mind. He He He

That would be cool. 2 yeras will give me enough time to get back on my feet and be ready for a new purchase.
