I got a new CZ barrel this week that came with a standard black ramp sight that I have difficulty seeing at the range. I'm leaning towards getting a ramp sight w/red insert like I've got on my 6" shroud. I know FO sights are available but I want to stay with a more traditional sight on the 15-2. I could just paint it red but rather not. Anybody got any suggestions about a better color choice for old eyes?

I like the red insert IF I'm not shooting black sights in good light.
My 357 is an early run and came with a fixed full black front sight. I thought I needed a red insert and had a gunsmith cut and insert a red. I wished I'd left it alone and bought another shroud instead.
I tried a yellow insert on my 44. Worked great in low light but "flared" in sun light and I could not get a good sight picture.
I've seen where some one was selling blue and green front sights. I thought about them (esp. the green) but didn't send in my $.
One of my .45s has Millet sights. The front seems almost orange and I can pick it up very fast with the white in the rear sight.
I haven't tried the FO.
Seems like the front sights for DW are pretty cheap so you could try several different colors to find what works best for you.

No tapping was necessary for me. Just a slight wiggle with my thumb & forefinger and they pop right out. I have read that some like to add a touch of blue Loctite because they have had the retaining screw come loose during shooting sessions, but I haven't experienced that myself.

Use whatever is easiest for you to see it better. For me, it is the orange/red fiber optic(I'm 65 and can't see s**t). Keep the original sight and you can always go back to "traditional" whenever you want. BTW, the sight retaining screw does not have to be fully removed to change the sight, just loosen until the sight has enough room to be removed with your fingers.

I've got HI VIZ fiber optic front sight set for my Ruger GP100s that comes with red, green and white inserts so you can experiment in different lighting situations. Green seems to be the best for me at the indoor range. Any color is an improvement over the plain black front sight for me these days.

I absolutely love the fiber optic front sight and am probably going to get one for each of my Dan's.
My second sight choice is the classic red insert. I tried the white and it's not bad but I like red better. I've never tried the yellow, but the black doesn't work for my eyesight.
Is that sight from CZ or EWK? It looks good on the gun.
