Welcome to DWF.

I would suggest visiting New Members, and introduce your self. We have several Members that own the 11, I'm sure they will be along soon to help.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Welcome! Please send some pictures. We respond well to visual stimuli. I have a D11 with a 2" barrel. It's like a cross between a snub-nosed 38 and a hatchet. They seem to sell a bit below $500, sometimes quite a bit. I think their value is under appreciated on the market. They are the guns that established the foundation of the Dan Wesson revolver in the early 70's, and they shoot extremely well. Let's see some pictures and give us a range report.

dwf-welcome The model D11 & W12 were the first Dan Wesson production models. As Para Normal said, this model does often tend to sell for less than it's later model 14 siblings. They are still fine shooters, though!

The 11 has a "semi-fixed" drift adjustable rear sight for windage, while the 12 is adjustable for both windage and elevation. Here is a pair of mine (11 & 12), in a Pac case I made a while back.smile

That is a very low serial number. 1970 birthday I think. Is it for shooting or fondling. You should give it the Average Joe Tuneup. The gun is 45 years old now and even though it may not be apparent, a fine patina of oxidation is overlaying the bluing. A product called Flitz will remove that. I rub it in well with your fingers, even on the lockwork. You will need a barrel tool, factory with the Allen wrenches or EWK without. You can get the Allen wrenches and feeler shim at an auto parts store. As you rub in the Flitz it will turn brown as it removes the oxidation. Be aware that one of the first changes that Dan Wesson made was to the way the hand and the hand spring interacted. In the model 11,the spring wrapped around the hand. Later models have a slot in the hand that the end of the spring fit into. The model 11 spring could break from abrasion. It was also hard to reinstall. If you do the tuneup and have a problem check with us. Ditto if the spring breaks. Have fun.
