Unless it's in terrible shape, that is a very good price

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

They also had a 15-2 in the case with a 2,4 and 6-inch barrel for $500. They may take less for it, I don't know. Looked pretty good too. If I didn't already have a 4 and 8 inch barrel, this would be a pretty good deal, I think. It already had Pachmayer grips on it too.

If it had been me, I would have left with $500 less in my pocket and a big smile on my face !!!

Well, That's just what I did. Sort of.

Turns out that it was a 14, not a 15. It did have a Pachmayer Gripper on it and it is a Monson build with a 2,4 and 6-inch barrel. It'll need a good cleaning but, I think it will make for a nice gun. I didn't have a 14 anyways! big-grin

I can post some pics once I pick it up next week and AFTER I give it a good cleaning. Oh, and I got it for $460. I didn't think that was too bad.

I noticed that there are special sights to use a 15 shroud on a 14 frame but, can I use a 14 shroud on a 15 frame? I was thinking of leaving the small sight on the 2-inch and 4-inch barrel but putting one of EWK's optic sights on the 6 and 8-inchers. Would that work? I could use the 2 and 4-inch barrels for the 14 and the bigger guys for the 15. Is that solid reasoning and possible to do?

thanks guys!

If they truly are 14 shrouds, the low front sights will be pinned in place.  You would need to drill them to remove them.

If the front sights are colored and removeable, they are 15 shrouds.

I'm pretty sure they're 14s. So, will the adjustable sights on my 15 compensate enough so that I could use them on the 15 frame?

Check out the shroud types link...>url=https://www.danwessonforum.com/archive/shroud-types]HERE[/url], the 4th pic down shows a model 14 shroud. Other pics show the various 15's...and yes, you will need to get custom front sights (see the EWK Arms link at the right) to make the gun shoot to POA.

We'd love to see somecool-pics

Thanks Charger Fan! That link does help and clearly shows the differences. They're not porkchops but they are the shorter sights so it looks like they're probably pinned in place. I've already got some sights in my shopping cart at EWK so I can swap back and forth if I want to with my other shrouds, and I'll be sure to post up some pics after I pick it up next week. I didn't think to notice if the top rib was the higher style like the 15 or lower 14 style and it currently resides in a safe at the LGS. Nothing definite until next week! Learning more about these guns each time I visit this forum! dwf-sign

I went to the LGS to pick up my new 14 but, you could say that I didn't get what I bargained for. There's a lot to the story so I started another thread with photos. It's located here  https://www.danwessonforum.com/forum/revolvers/what-i-bought-and-what-i-got
